Midnight Sun Photo

Photographer’s Note

The midnight sun is a phenomenon occurring in latitudes north of the Arctic Circle and south of the Antarctic Circle where the sun is visible at the local midnight. Given fair weather conditions, the sun is visible for a continuous 24 hours. Since there are no permanent human settlements south of the Antarctic Circle, the countries and territories whose population experiences it are limited to the ones crossed by the Arctic Circle, i.e. Alaska, Canada, Greenland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia and Iceland.

The opposite phenomenon, polar night, is observed in winter when the sun is sufficiently below the horizon, so that there is insufficient sunlight or no light at all.

it must be very strange to live the night at the light. whatever, that houses are innatural, but photos must show human madness. il like this point of view.

Wow this photo was taken around midnight? That's pretty amazing. Great capture of the buildings, so well lit, and even sporting a bit of a halo from the clouds, separating them visually from the background. I see no people. Even though it's light out, it is midnight, so maybe they still find a way to sleep.

Excellente photo une fois de plus et cette fois c'est le Groenland que tu montres, un des pays qu'il me plairait vraiment de visiter, encore plus aride que d'iSLANDE.
Merveilleuse prise de ce moment spécial qu'en le 'soleil de minuit'.
