Photographer’s Note

For all the fine words that I seem to say,
For all the fine clothes that I seem to wear,
For all the fine food that I seem to eat,
and for all the fine people that I meet.

I still sense... my mind yearning,
beseeching,
crying,
and asking...
is this a bad dream,
or just me and my silent scream?

Its so loud, to my ears
so explicit, to my mind
so invisible, to your eyes
why?...

Can't you hear?
Don't you understand?
You see a calm face and a serene smile,
when inside...
its just me and my silent scream...

...i saw this stencil on a wall in Asmalimescit neighbourhood of Beyoglu, Istanbul... i took a few shots (about 20!) of it with the passers-by and this one turned out to be the best of all :S...

Fantastic result, Korkut. It reminds my experience with 'the queen of the universe'...
Love your presentation with the framing and strong contrasts and the choice of the color version, since it would be easy to go for the b&w, here. The quality is impressive, with wonderful textures and lighting!

Only one thing did not go so well: This guy did not practice his role before as much as he should and has a quite expressionless mien….. ok,ok, don´t get upset. My critique is a bit hard, I know, I read that you did at least 20 trials.
Anyhow I like this shot.

Silent Scream of distress my friend ..
Scream that is not heard anymore by the many, only from few.
Excellent photo which give exactly the feeling of a distress from a world which change dramatically in a bad way.

Interesting portrait, dark and anonymous. Incredible painting of a crying person in the back, its an interesting piece of art! Colours are natural and appropriate for the scene I think. I also think the timing was pretty good for this photo, the guy didn't cover up the background/artwork, but just walked in your frame. A good thing is that he isn't well recognizable. Well done.

There is still not much to say that haven't been said about this one, just say that this is fantastic capture using the shadowed face and the painting on the wall, and a perfect timing to compose it. I like also the pastel tones of the wall against the dark tones of the man passing by and the painting.

gerçekten de daha önce konuşup bunun en iyi versiyon olduğunda hemfikir olduğumuz için olsa gerek burada yorum yapmamışım ne zamandır burada durmasına rağmen.
fakat yorumlardan da anlaşılacağı gibi gerçekten çok başarılı bir fotoğraf gözün olduğunu bir kez daha ispatlamış görünüyorsun.
makinan birazcık daha kapsamlı olsa neler görürüz senden bilmiyorum artık...

Merhaba Korkut,
Utku ve Hakan'dan sizinle ilgili hayli bilgi aldım. Eleştirinin, hakedildiğinde sonunun nerelere varabileceğini, müthiş gözlem gücünüzü, yaratıcılığınızı ve Kuzey bebeği hep biliyorum.
Bu fotografınızı tesadüfen hatırlıyorum, sanırım Utku kritik yazıyordu görmüştüm ve çok etkilenmiştim, o zaman birgün TE'ye girersem size göndereceğim ilk kritiğin bu fotograf olmasına karar vermiştim.
Tebrikler çok güçlü ve etkili fotoanlatım.

your sense of composition is superb, many of your images are intense and full of emotions and atmosphere. you have a wonderful gallery, and it is hard to choose from. i ended up with this one, for all the obvious reasons.

Gecenlerde Taksim'de dolanirken bu stensili gordum. Bana birseyler cagristirdi, muhtemelen TE'De gormus olabilecegimi dusundum. Ama cikaramadim. Bugun "acaba korkut son zamanlarda birseyler yukledi de ben kacirdim mi" diye senin sayfani actigimda bu fotograf cikti. Nasil mutlu oldum anlatamam :)
Super bir fotograf bu Korkut, sessiz falan ama derinden derinden, avaz avaz "ben buradayim" diye bagiran bir kare...

Hi,

another photo that screams. In opposite to the title it screams loudly from all the mediocrisy, it screams loudly with most powerful motive. It can be applied to so many situations in life...and it can be applied to a life itself. This is absolutely perfect demonstration of today's world: people screaming for help and people living in their ignorance...
