Photographer’s Note

There many spectacular views that can be found from the clifftops around Flamborough Head on the Yorkshire coast.

The cliffs are made of white chalk, created in horizontal layers from the remains of tiny sea creatures millions of years ago.

Continual erosion from the sea has resulted in many interesting formations being created, such as the arch in this photograph.

Hi Finlay,just switched on to find this shot,I thought I was looking at one of mine.Recently posted the same arch, in April.
The colours come out really well,the sea is a beautiful shade of green.The shot could be a tad sharper but I have to say,a good shot.

Hi Finlay, this is one of my favourite views along this coastline. I often walk from south landing to north landing and enjoy this looking at this everytime I pass it. Your shot is wonderful, sharp lines and the sea is the foreground is superb.TFS

Strange (but beautiful) creations there is on this earth. Good composition, with a straight horizon, and good point of view over this cliff. Great colours and light and well focused. Thanks for sharing.

This is a great shot. The best thing is the colours in the shallow water - they are wonderful. But the rest of the picture is excellent too.

Beautiful piece of nature here. Looking at the clear water and the cliffs I though the picture was taken somewhere around the mediterranean. Happily surprised it was taken in Brittain. Good sharpness. A grad filter would have helped with the bright sky. TFS, Gilbert

Wonderful natural formation. I like the colours of the water, especially the details close to the shore. Too bad the sky is a bit overexposed, but still I like this photo.
