Photographer’s Note

I took this one today during a protest rally in Caracas to defend freedom of expression, as the oldest Venezuelan TV channel was closed a week ago by the government. It was 53 years old. There have been several peaceful student protests this week to defend the civil liberties; there have also been government rallies to defend the measure to close the TV station.

I liked the composition of one open window in midst of the many windows of this modern building and the Venezuelan flag hanging out as a sign of support.

Rotated 1 degree and cropped accordingly. Sharpened and contrast increased. Resized to meet TE size standards.

HOla, Yvonne, la composicion pone esta imagen casi en la categoria de abstracta. Me gusta como la bandera da un toque de color reenforzando el mensaje que quieres comunicar. Bien visto y captado.

Muy gráfica la foto!
Excelente el patrón conseguido con este recorte de foto, donde la unidad se rompe con la ventana abierta...y además con una bandera de nuestro país.
Magnífico el momento que capturaste, tanto por la composición de la foto, como por el mensaje transmitido.

I like these type of pattern shots - almost monochromatic with a little splash of colour that is really good.

Hi Yvonne,

this would have been a great shot with all the windows closed, but with an open window and the flag it becomes an excellent capture. Very minimalistic and graphical with the vertical & diagonal lines prominent. Well spotted.
