Photographer’s Note

Taken in an area close to the dumping area in Phnom Penh. This little girl stays inside the center where she is offered food and shelter while her parents out to work at the dumping area. I took this photo when she was eating her lunch. Her eyes attracts my attention the most. Taken in colors, and then convert to B/W.

This is a very good photo. The expression on her face is touching and sad at the same time. We can see the suffering on her eyes. Perfect shot and great P&W conversion.

I like so much the close approach you had towards this little girl, and the tight framing made.

Wonderful focus on the girls eyes. The highlights in them make her seem so alive. Well done and glad to see you got that camera fired back up.

Hi Sothy,

This is incredibly thoughtful. Her eyes are deep pools .. but it is that rough tangle of hair and the shadows of it on her skin that I find most evocative.

Sweet portrait. Balanced black and white treatment and I like that you resisted oversharpening. This works much better with the softer lines you have here.

This is a great portrait shot but I am not to partial to it. Just personal opinion I guess. It is sharp and detailed with really good eye contact. It is just too close for my taste. I think I would have liked to see some of the environment. Still, a great portrait shot.
