Photographer’s Note
Aritar lake from Aritar top
A large half KM long lake looks like a soup bowl from the nearby 1000 feet high top. China border at Nathu-La is about 65 KM. There is a temple of Lord Shiva and few tourist huts under construction at the top.
It’s an upcoming tourist attraction in the East Sikkim and only 8 KM away from Rhenok which is a famous old locality on the ancient Silk route. A bird’s eye view provides an over all assessment of the whole ancient Silk route passing through this area. Positions of Nathu-La, Jelep-La and Kupup can be perfectly appreciated from here.
Approach can be from Pedong of West Bengal or Rongli of Sikkim and both are equally comfortable.

Hi Dr,
Heard so much about Artar being the newest destination in Sikkim. This one looked much more impressive from thumbnail than the bigger one.The lake which I suppose is the subject, is only partially visible and those tiny leaves in the F/G is not atall helping the cause either. The greenery is impressive, as it is typical of this part of the world , but the bluish tone on the sky is on the higher side to me.I guess, a better POV could have certainly done the difference, but it is not always possible in the hills......
Greetings,
Dhurjati

Hello Dr. J,
I see this photo as an image of a descriptive note. Just exact for the TrekEarth community.
Talking about the details; maybe the foreground plants could be reduced or could not be included at all. Since the eye trips over them and it distracts the vast, wide, extensive beauty of the landscape.
In general, the water takes its colour from the sky and mostly reflects it, however, here the surrounding is so green that the lake couldn't resist :) It is an admirable colour.
Thanks for sharing it Dr.J.
Have a nice weekend.

hello Doc,
this is a very good shot for reason that you have captured the lake from in between the forest and the clouds are looking well..the burning activity on the cloud have added some beauty to it...very very good note and a perfect tourism shot..!!

HI DrJ,
great landscape! Lovable contrast between the strong sky with the green of the land. The lake on the center-left and the foreground plants just enhanced the composition. Great work!

Dr J.
Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed this image.
This benefits me from an 'artistic/painterly' type effect..
The frame pattern is fine, and I dont feel the foreground distracting..and actually that adds some details of the space too..
SALUTES.

hello Dr. J,
This is a wonderful capture of a beautiful place. You are taking us to a place which is not so common for tourists, thanks for that. This is a good composition with the blue cloudy sky and the beautiful lake below, I like the proportion very much.

Hi Bhunia,
AH... The green Himalayas... A great view indeed and an interesting and nice compo also, although I am not sure if it is so effective. But I like those triangular shapes of the FG that push our look to the BG. The grass on the FG is pretty but also disturbs a bit the vision of the temple.
Regards, José.

Good way to present the lake in the midst of this green setting J. Interesting landscape in a good compo where you wisely use the foreground vegetation to add depth to the setting.
