Morning Light on Cap Fréhel Photo

Photographer’s Note

One of the natural marvels of the Breton Coast and certainly the most spectacular is the multi coloured cliffs of the Cap Frehel in Côtes d'Armor, northern Brittany. Over 70m high the cliffs are home to gulls, cormorants and some rare sea birds. On a clear evening the distant horizon sweeps round the Emerald coast from Normandy's Cotentin pennisula in the East to the Ile de Brehat in the north west.

No towns or villages are situated on the peninsula 300 hectares of wild land covered in heather and gorse. However two lighthouses, one from the 17th century and the other one from 1950, are located at the tip of it.

Le paysage est évidemment magnifique et la lumière superbe. Je ne sais pas s'il fallait laisser la ligne d'horizon en plein milieu, je crois que j'aurais privilégié le sol?

Très belle photo du cap Frehel avec un point de vue supebe qui met en valeurs les couleurs de landes Bretonne, de mer mer, avec un beau ciel. D'ailleurs le ciel est fabuleux, la forme des nuage donne une bonne perspective à la photo.

You are displaying for me what I missed when I visited Brittany this spring, as it was fogged in when I drove to this area...The light and shadow effects combine with the warm hues and tones for a splendid result. I like the off centre positioning of the lighthouse. The exposure level seems just right. Well captured...Demain.

A spectacular clear view you had here! The sky with the wispy clouds floating over it is great. The people give a real sense of scale of this vast land/seascape and the light and colours are lovely. The lighthouse looks impressive, are you able to go inside it?

Very well landscape picture with the edges of the rocks and the sea.
I like this relief in the rocks, also the nice playing with light and shadows gives a nice picture.

I like the balance between the two halves of the image, and with the beautiful light on the cliffs and the wispy clouds in the sky, both halves deserved the equal weight you gave them.
I think it would have been even better if you could have found some strong element to use in the foreground - some clifftop rocks or flowers perhaps - but this is a very well taken shot of this beautiful coastline.

C'est une superbe lumière que tu as capturé là et j'ai l'impression de contempler un tableau en regardant cette image. Le grand angle a donné beaucoup de profondeur à ce paysage ainsi que de très beaux dessins des nuages dans le ciel. Les petites silhouettes rouges donnent l'échelle de ce phare imposant.

Superbe lumière matinale sur les falaises avec vue sur les deux phares, que je suppose, ne plus être fonctionnels. J'aime bien le mouvement des nuages, le jeu d'ombres et de lumières, les couleurs et la profondeur dans l'image.

Je ne sais pas trop pourquoi, mais je ne m'attends pas à trouver la Bretagne dans ta galerie... C'est un peu stupide, mais j'y attends plus le Bhutan ou l'Asie...
Et en plus, cette vue et ce grand angle sur le Cap sont superbes, dans une lumière idéale. Un grand bravo donc.

Hi Vincent -the lements (earth, sea & sky) are all extremely photogenic here, perfect lighting for this scene.

Hopefully I will follow in your footsteps and go to the Himalaya in October, including Bhutan, but not Mustang, which is just too expensive.

This is a lovely presentation of this wild and wonderful place, Vincent. Again, you have a beautiful sky, which enhances the beauty of the rugged cliffs. You don't sat what the structure on top is. It could be a lighthouse or some kind of monument. It would be nice to know. Regards Kevin

Une belle image bien composée et avec de belles couleurs. L'ouverture était peut-être un peu grande, ce qui rend le premier-plan un peu flou mais c'est un détail !
