Photographer’s Note
Here it is another one that I hesitated much in posting. It was shot on the same night of my first nocturne panorama 'Coimbra at night'. It was quite a long drive home after some days working on the North of Portugal, but I couldn't waste the almost unique opportunity of passing these places alone with no hurry to get to my destination (home). Sadly it is forbidden to stop at highways, because the view is great from the highway that passes through the hill that lies on the other side of the valley.
Obidos is quite well represented in TE (hey David, why don't you come back? ;-), which isn't much of a surprise, because it is a rather scenic village that doesn't seem to have changed much in at least 500 years. It was also the subject of some of my earliest posts in TE.
I had no success in putting off that excess of green, no matter the combination of colour temperature and colour levels I tried. To get a better exposure, I used the same technique of the other night shots of Coimbra, which I explained (I hope...) in the note of the post of S.Clara.
Location (latitude, longitude): 39.36,-9.1563
---
This probably is my last post this month, as I am leaving for Dominican Republic, where I'll meet our TE colleague Emile. The simple idea of holidays is always very pleasant, but these ones are even more welcome, unexpectedly coming as a deserved reward after a non-stop marathon of work that lasted more than two weeks (the unexpected thing isn't the trip, which I have booked in May, but the surge of excess work).
See you later, my friends.

Beautiful! The soft lights give this image a very nice mood. The architecture is beautiful and give the town an old time charm, rich in history. Nice composition with good sharpness. I enjoyed reading the note as well. Thanks Jose.

so enjoy your holidays and best relaxing as possible.
The green cats is a bit strange, I share your impression. I tried a bit on that, the only chance to change a bit are the colour levels itself I think. The result is also not the best. Therefore let us take your version with a nice night view and correct the colours in mind.

Even at night the village looks very medieval. Probably partly to do with the green cast you mention but also the shapes of the buildings and the city walls. Well exposed at 5 seconds.
Enjoy your trip.

Jose, this shot might be the best example that you will start to consider strongly to switch from JPEG to RAW. This shot has serios white balance problems and that would be something that you can correct easily during the RAW conversion process. I'm beeing the devils advocate because I also see that part of problem the light beeing used to ilumminate the city. For example, the tower of the church looks fine, no green hue there.
Otherwise, composition, light balance, contrast, etc seems to be right on spot.
Have a good trip and say a big HI to DR, Emile and Rosa for me!
Regards, Peter
P.S. I did a WS. It looks quite different. Let me know what you think ...

Hello José,
An exquisite night shot of the fairy tale like walled city of Obidos. The composition is excellent, with layer upon layer of the town seems to unfold in front of the viewer. Have a good trip to the Dominican Republic. I look forward to your photos from the Caribbean.
Warm regards, good friend,

Such fun light, Jose! Very nicely composed and exposed. I like the various geometry created by the patches of light here.

Ela escreveu: "It is lovely, but it is also on the point of becoming a piece of kitsch if it becomes too lovely! (A house in Poffabbro).
F

Hi Jose!
Very good night shot. Walls and towers of this ancient city looks very interesting. You have very hard light but sharpness and clarity is excellent ( tripod was used?).
