Nearing Denali. Photo

Photographer’s Note

Hi all.
Our train ride across Alaska was certainly one of the highlights of our recent travels, the scenery was outstanding with stunning views and occasional wildlife to be seen.
This was taken as we neared Denali National Park. As I was outside on the observation platform I missed out on the commentary so I can’t tell you the name of the small lake.
We were blessed with fine weather for our entire Alaskan trip and even managed to see Mt McKinley which I will show in my next post.

Paul,

I find by looking at your picture that I have started to expect different levels of technical competence from different people. I say that because I almost passed on this but that would be unfair to you.

The shot is great, it is very well composed, unbelievably sharp and colorful and it is part of your ongoing travels in Alaska. It, in my opinion is not as good as you posted yesterday. Great shot despite my conundrum.

Hi Paul,
Another beautiful view from Alaska. This time the train gets less attention and fascinating nature of Alaska gets the main role. The PoV is perfect, you couldn't have chosen it better even if you were out there walking.

Beautiful view over the very blue lake. The nature looks great and I like the way the tallest trees of the forest stand out against the mountains in the background, creating a fine effect. I find it also very nice that we can see the train. Well captured!

The landscape Paul, is really outstanding. The railway curve is interesting. The clear atmosphere helps the improvement in the scene.
The light management is very well done and the clarity is great! I like very much the nature all around there. Thank you Paul for sharing and have a nice weekend.

the sky makes a rest on the water, doesn't it? Beauriful view, good choice of capture and great landscape behind. Great sharpness - 1/1000 is excellent for that.

Hi Paul,
Almost 300 days a year is mount McKinly covered in clouds and you bring us in your next upload a clear mountain...oh man, you were very lucky i'll guess..!!!
Okay, first this one. The view is awesome, the bend is creating a perfect curve which enhance the whole composition. Taken from a train is a extra point, very difficult but the result is beautiful...a great landscape.

Excellent POV from the platform of the train, with the curve that gives a very dynamic sensation. The beauty of the landscape is impressive, and the fine weather helped you to take these wonderful photos, of a magnificent and very distant place for me.
Great work with the exposure, the quality of the image and the colors, the blue of the lake is very beautiful.

Bonjour Paul,
la composition est simple.
Il y a tellement de beaux paysages dans ces contrées.
Elle est prafaitement cadrée et le POV choisi nosu donne de la profondeur et des couleurs.
Excellente gestion des paramètres d'exposition et mise au point.

Those long trains are really amazing photo platforms!
But still, what capture the eye here is of course the landscape... Everything is there, the lake, the forest of fir, the mountains with a touch of snow, and not to forget the blue sky!
And nicely put together, let me add...

Hi Paul,
I do want to finish your Alaska trip before I move on to that great barn. Great framing; once again, you've made good use of a curve in the tracks to include the train. The curving train emphasizes the curve of the lake. I like the way the shadow tells that you're on that train. Excellent color and detail throughout and of course I love the clouds and their reflections.

I'd rather have the picture than the name. The reflection is beautiful ... the perception of the train winding around the lake into the infinity of this landscape is wonderful.

Hi Paul,
Such a beautiful sight! The colours are so clear and crisp, as one can get only in the mountains, far away from everyday city smog and clouds. The appearance of train looks so unreal among this unspoiled nature.
The little thing that spoils perfection here is the dark left corner, but considering the fact the photo was taken form the riding train, I imagine that was hard to avoid.

Impressive landschape! THe contrast of the trees at the fg with the rocky mountain at the back is realy impressive. Also the colors are beuatiful.
