Photographer’s Note

Ragusa Ibla was founded by the Sicels 3000 years ago and has seen Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Normans and Spanish.

The city comprises a picturesque arrangement of houses, narrow roads and staircases that rise along the hillside with the same name.

This photo was taken from Via del Mercato just before it opens up into Piazza della Repubblica. I liked the different styles of architecture and the tones of the facades of the buildings - to the immediate right, up on the left and above on the hill.

If you look up on the hill at the top of the picture, you will see Chiesa Santa Maria delle Scale - a subject of, and vantage point for other pictures I have posted of Ragusa Ibla...

Hello Michael,
I can see fully well why you took this picture. A very nice POV and an interesting mix of architectural styles. The light is very fine and there is a good sharpness on every little detail.

A beautiful picture that takes in so much!! I love the old buildings and your comment makes it that much more interesting. So much history!!! WOW!

Michael,
Your composition and POV is great here using the road to lead the eye through the photo to the building on the hill. The lighting is great with the areas of sun and shadow creating nice contrast. The sharpness and details are great with nice color through out.
