Photographer's Note
This photograph was taken in Kumortuli just before a month ago of the Durga Puja , the biggest festival of Bengali Hindus. Situated at North Kolkata of West Bengal, India Kumortuli is famous for production of spectacular idols of God and Goddess of Bengal. Most of the residents here are engaged in making Idols which not only supplies to Kolkata and its neighborhoods, but a number of idols are exported. In the photograph you can find the God Ganesha, one of the sons of Goddess Durga. Ganesha is one of the most-worshipped divinities in India. I found those two girls resided in Kumortuli was sharing some friendly moments at the narrow lanes of Kumortuli. If you come here you can found that the God and Goddess are like their family members and the interrelation between the people of kumortuli and idols so nice. This is one of the place where lot of photographers from different part of the world come every year to capture the essence of Bengal. Photographers are charged Rs. 25/- for a full day and Rs. 50/-(almost $1) for photographing the whole season (ie 1 to 2 months). The money accumulation is utilized to help the old/disabled Artists for medical support, to give monetary help during marriage of Poor artist’s daughter etc. This year Durgapuja will be held from 18 th October to 21 st October.

Terrific composition. The contrst between the moving colourful kids and the still colourless statues is rather spectacular. With this much action in the picture, the centered composition is actually a very good choice. There is no need to add extra dynamics to the image. A nitpick: It would have been even stronger had the background been completely unblurred. But it is either a little out of focus or a little shaken. But this is a minor thing which by no means ruis the fine image.
Best,

ah, this is a great catch. despite of the hurried shake, the contrast of almost monochrome BG and the colorful kids make this a winner.

From the thumbnail I thought it was a B%W picture with only some color left. A great snapshot, full of vitality.
