Photographer's Note

The 12mm local length combined with a high shutter speed allowed me to catch this shot as we sped by this "shoreline" of Lake Powell. You can see a yacht docked about mid-frame to give you some sense of the scale of this rock formation.

I was stunned that a lake could be lined with such outrageous landforms. But this is no normal lake; it is man-made as created by the Glen Canyon Dam. The dam was completed in 1964 and the resulting recreation area expands over 1.2 million acres.

The tour boat travelled for about 50 miles from Page, AZ to the Navajo Indian Reservation in Utah where we reached the Rainbow Bridge, an earlier post.
