Photographer’s Note

Bolton Castle dominates the Wensleydale village of Castle Bolton.
In 1568 Mary Queen of Scots was held at the castle for a year, before being moved to Tutbury Castle in Staffordshire. During the Civil War the castle was held by the Royalist, John Scrope. In 1645, starvation forced him to surrender to a Parliamentary army after a year long siege.
A few cars have been forcibly removed from this image.

I like the eprspective you have sued here to show the lenght of the canvass. great contrasts and textures, good colours and nice sharpness. great image

Hi Vic,

I like mainly the strong depth and perspective. The convergence of the two lines (paht and houses) is very useful and the castle in the background, very well cut against the well colored sky is interesting. Thanks!

The removal of the cars adds a more rural touch to this capture mate.The leading lines of the wall and path make for a good composition too. I do like the natural colours of the variegated ivy and roses further along .. Just a tad overexposed on the cottage walls but still shows great detail of the stone.

Hi Vic.
Just found this really nice photo of the castle and village houses. I think the composition is great, and the exposure is very good of the bright sunlight bouncing off those cottages - almost but not quite over-exposed. Just wondering if you forcibly removed the actual cars, or just cloned them out of existence! Anyway, the result is marvellous.
