This is a picture of the conjunction between Pamisos river and the Messinian gulf.

This remarkable place of beauty is located at the west side of Kalamata, near by Messini.

If you are intrested to get there, you won't take the main highway which leads to Messini town, but the souther street, (below the Kalamata air force camp, parallel to the main highway) which leads to Cart drag stage.

This is a very pleasant ride, not more than 15 minutes from the center of the city.

That west part is where Kalamata ends and the grocery side of the city begins.
Endless fields, farmers, and nature will be your relaxing view from the rear for almost 10 minutes driving.


About the Shot:

Don't think there is infinite daylight in this one,
the settings I used as you can see from the EXIF, are F/8 for a sharp result (best to use with EF-S 18-55 canon lenses), ISO was set to 400, in order to take a balance (EV/0) with shutter speed 1/80 which was acceptable for a steady hand, and no wind.

A polarizer filter was used. That is why I've lost almost 2 F-stops, (as the polarizer filter increases the contrast and reduces the exposure) and thats why I had to set ISO 400, and speed 1/80.

However the shot satisfied my needs


Post Processing Notes:
----------------------
- Besides the extra contrast and the Saturation increasment, I erased some power cables from the horizon before I convert it from RAW.
- A little sharpness was increased too
- A frame and a name was also given for the final touch

I tried to use a Clarify effect with a blueish (WB) tone, and have to admit that it looked good, but those warm tones and the sweet vignetting gives a better feeling.

Πανεμοργη φωτο που απο μονη της τα λεει ολα. Υπεροχα χρωματα καλοζυγιασμενο θεμα σε δυο μερη, και μια απολυτη γαληνη παντου. Πολυ επιτυχημενη και ως προς την ωρα ληψης.

Very charming photo, very good details on the water, I like the ripplings..and nice rich colours. The sun is positioned at a good location in the frame, nicely put off center. Flares are well controlled, did you use a lens hood? If not..well then it seems the kitlens is pretty flare resistant..wonderful! The choice for these settings is fine I think, F8 is an optimal choice for max. sharpness on most (and mainly cheap) lenses. F8-F11 is most of the times the sweet spot for optimal sharpness. So that's well chosen and the ISO 400 didn't hurt, I don't see any noise. Crisp colours, nice reflections and a fine border finish the rest and make it a fine presented photo. Well done!

Καλή σε σκέψη και εκτέλεση. Δεν είμαι σίγουρος αν τα δυο διασταυρωμένα ξύλα στο κάτω μέρος του πλαισίου προσθέτουν ή αφαιρούν στην όλη σύνθεση. Τραβάνε τη ματιά σίγουρα.

Στέλιο γεια σου για μιά ακόμα φορά,
άλλη μιά ωραία φωτό με ένα εξαιρετικό συνδιασμό χρωμάτων και φωτός.Η αντανάκλαση στην επιφάνεια του νερού και οι πτυχώσεις στην που δημιούργησε ο αέρας στην επιφάνειά του δημιούργησαν μια ατμοσφαιρική σκηνή.
