Photographer’s Note
Just a nice and sweet family we bumped into at Shey Palace. Shey Palace is quite like the ruins and I kept bumping into the family at every turn. I remember, at one point, I was pretty curious about the giant prayer wheel and how it worked, and the family came to my rescue.
After a point (just before i took their picture) they finally came down and started talking to me and enquiring about my whereabouts and the only question that i remember asking them was-How do you people survive Leh in winters?; to which they just smiled and said-that's life and that they were sure that people survive in worse conditions than them.

Pleasant group photo, the father and youngest daughter come across as especially friendly. Only thing that bothers me a bit is the central positioning of the family; either a crop to the father or the old lady's sleeve would offset it enough to remove this.
An extended note would also be great-- I'm sure you interacted with them a bit in order for you to come away with your opinion.

I totally agree with Michael, crop on left top and bottom definitly renders the photo. I see that this family was really enjoying that you took their photo.

What I like about this shot is you got talking with them and put them at ease and it shows in their expressions. Very natural. Well done Sn00zie! I have posted a WS to show what Michael and Henk probably mean.

i like the way the photo looks very natural, not a portrait but a family photo taken by their big uncle... even putting the family into the centre (like an uncle would). thanks!!!

What beautiful faces Smrithi! I find it especially fascinating since faces looking very much like these can be found in Central America. I love your capture, though I believe it benefits from a tighter composition. I added a second workshop doing just that for your consideration. I welcome your images from Ladakh. I know the place to be very steeped in religious tradition, which is evident from the response of this family to your question. It might be called meeting life on life's terms, a very Buddhist concept.
Namaste.
