Rossio Square Photo

Photographer’s Note

After long time away from here I've decided to take a break on my vacations from TE...And finally return with one photo of the most famous square from Lisbon – The Rossio.
Rossio is the liveliest square in the city, where people stop to sit and relax, or for a drink at the several atmospheric cafes with outdoor sitting (the most popular is the art deco Café Nicola on the western side).
On either side of the square are two baroque fountains, and in the center is a monument measuring 27 meters in height. It consists of a pedestal with marble allegories of Justice, Wisdom, Strength, and Moderation, qualities attributed to Dom Pedro IV, whose statue stands on top of the monument.
In the 19th century the square was paved with cobblestones in wave patterns, a design seen today in many other pavements all over Portugal, and that has spread to Portugal's former colonies from Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) to Macao (China).
On the north side of the square is the Dona Maria II National Theater, a monumental neoclassical building built in the 1840s. The portico has six Ionic columns (originally from the Church of St. Francis, destroyed in the 1755 earthquake), and crowning the pediment is a statue of playwright Gil Vicente.

É bom ver fotos novas dessa arquiteta no TE.
A composição está muito linda, com elementos muito bem cuidados. O hotel parece bem antigo.

Olá, mi amiga Teresa,
he tenido una gran alegría al ver tu crítica a mi foto, y ver que vuelves a estar "operativa" en TE, lo que significa que podremos volver a distrutar de tu creatividad y de tu "ojo fotográfico".
Y para celebrar tu retorno nos presentas una bella escena de la vida cotidiana de Lisboa, en esta bonita plaza, con gente dando vida y dinamismo, y donde has trabajado magistralmente la luz para destacar las texturas y el grafismo de esta aqruitectura y del pavimento del lugar.
Me gusta poder estudiar los muchos elementos de la foto, como el mobiliario urbano de los bancos, las farolas, o el kiosco y los árboles.
Buen trabajo, amiga, y espero verte por aquí más a menudo si tu tiempo te lo permite.

Olá Teresa,
quanto tempo!!!! Bom retorno ao TE.
Já de entrada, uma bela foto. As construções apresentam um textura valorizada, particularmente o telhado da casa à esquerda. Muito bonito.
As ramagens das árvores quase sem folhas são destaque também.
Gostei muito das duas jovens lendo um jornal no banco da praça e dos outros dois "tomando" sol mais ao fundo.

Olá Teresa,
Esta foto está num ângulo muito difícil de ser reconhecida como o Rossio em Lisboa (e não em Cascais como está escrito na localização que deves corrigir), certamente esta foto foi feito num domingo pois não se observa confusão de pessoas nem transito, gosto das cores e luz quanto ao POV preferia outro que mostra-se mais esta bela Praça de Lisboa.

Hi Teresa,
first of all, nice to see you back after such a long time! The perspective of the shot is very nice and it is interesting the pov you've chosen to shoot, probably one of the less photographed corners of the square. The absence of leaves on the trees in the fg. surprises me considering the that it was late August when you took it, on the other hand it was advantageous, because this way the architecture of the buildings are more appreciable.

Retornou com mais uma bela foto ao TE! Uma simpática praça essa mesmo e achei interessante algumas árvores verdes e outras completamente secas, a arquitetura do Hotel é muito bonita também!

De novo no TE ? Bem, esta vista de Lisboa têm uma luz "vibrante" e se parece com aqueles dias em que o sol muito forte nos faz fechar os olhos...Muitos pormenores aqui para ver. Tenho saudades de Lisboa que nao vi este ano. Uma bela imagem e uma nota instrutiva Teresa.

Me alegro mucho que estes de vuelta en TE, espero que tu ausencia no fuera por nada de preocupacion. Gracias por regresar.
Tu foto esta muy buena y muy bien captada, una excelente fotografia de la vida diaria en la plaza de Rossio en Lisboa. Preciosa arquitectura de los edificios que la rodean, estupendos colores, definicion y POV.

Foi por acaso que hoje encontrei esta tua foto e fico muito satisfeito por isso. Talvez seja sinal de que te vamos ver por aqui mais vezes.
Gosto da foto em geral, pelo ponto de vista e por teres conseguido tão pouca gente na imagem. Aquele carro no lado esquerdo está como que a mais mas não pertuba muito a composição. O que gosto muito é do aspecto antigo das cores. Dá a ideia de uma foto já com alguns, muitos, anos.
