Photographer’s Note

This picture shows the North American P51 Mustang which was developed towards the end of WWII. There was an airshow at our local airport and we were fortunate to see three or four of these great planes.

I am still experimenting with HDR and am realizing how to use it and how to fix the problems. In this case HDR worked well because of the light reflections from the aircraft. The problem was the unnatural light in the blue sky so the sky had to be removed and redone in a more natural way. The other difficulty was the people who were in some of the five shots taken to make up the image. These people had to be removed using the clone tool. Photomatrix was used with it’s tone control to get the correct lighting. This picture is much more “alive” than the non-HDR images and shows the reflections of light in a much more dynamic way than a normal photograph.

This RP photo was color corrected to diminish some of the blue tint created by the HDR. I agreed witht he comment from Andreas.
