Photographer’s Note
After posting many photos of Yemen, and the western part, I am now turning to the eastern area of Yemen. This absolutely remarkable village is called Al Khureibah, and was one of the many highlights in my trip. Lighting was a bit difficult as it was turning into the afternoon, and the sun was becoming stronger. I guesstimate that I took this picture at around 11am, so there is still a little bit of warm lighting, but the sun was starting to make shooting conditions even more difficult.
As you can see, the wadi bends around the valley. This is actually the rainy season in Yemen (the summer months) so it is greener than normal. To get to this vantage point, I ended up scrambling up a random pathway past houses, and then up a non-existent pathway of rocks. As it was getting quite hot, and I was out of water, I didn't go any higher. But still had such an amazing view.
I have to thank Tan Yilmaz for having a picture of this village in his gallery, which after seeing decided I must visit.
Unfortunately I have lost some sharpness in my PP, as I tried to remove the haze that was starting to dominate the photos in the latter part of the day. But I think you can still see the pretty incredible view I was able to experience this day.

CONGRATULATIONS, AFTER ALL THE HASSLES THE END RESULT IS STILL BEAUTIFUL AND INTERESTING. THE WINDING SWATH OF GREEN MAKES FOR A PRETTY CONTRAST AMIDST THE OCHRE AND BLUE TONES.
GOOD JOB WELL DONE.

Hi David,
Amazing perspective with this view into the valley. I like how you composed this scene with the line of vegetation winding from the bottom right corner then to the distance. The settlement nestled in the valley is very colorful and adds details and contrast to it's natural environment.
Nice work here, Mike

Hey David...more photos of this fascinating country.. I love it, the houses look so special and so different from what we are used to see in other places. The natural surroundings are spectacular..the mountain rims and the oasis. I don't like the frame that much, but that's my personal taste probably. Cheers, Léonie

No need to thank me David, even under the summer light the view is incredible, the green fields at the right side are unfamilliar, but the most shocking change is the presence of PAVEMENT! I see the road they said that would be built is ready, when I was there it was barely passable with a 4x4.

I like these oasis, I saw many of them in Chile, Bolivia and Peru, some of them had little towns but this one is increadible cause it mix the green of the oasis, the house-buildings and the cliffs that close the deep valley. Wonderful.

Hello David
Indeed a great shot of the valley..a smart opption to settle for this pov..the depth and the perspective that the meadering green gives to the valley is well caught..guess there was a river which has obviously dried over the years...sharpness aside..it is a great capture..love it
Cheers

Hi David,
Thanks for bringing another photo of this place.
It is true that checking the gallery of Tan is a must before travelling anywhere in the world.
Your POV is really good, and this place looks like a Lego city!
well done

Excellent point of view,
the photo is great, in spite of difficult light conditions. We were in the area both in the afternoon an in the morning and we always had a non cooperative sun, so my photos from Wadi Dwan are awful.
Cheers

Hi David. When I saw this shot in the thumbnails, I thought it was one that I had seen in Tan Yilmaz's gallery, and then I saw from your note that it was that shot that had prompted you to go to Al Khureibah. Interesting to see the progress that has been made in this town since Tan was there. A little degradation in technical qiulaity for the reasons you mentioned in your note, but still a great shot worth posting. Cheers . . . David

Wonderful job capturing a fantastic place, under less than perfect conditions. I love the framing and composition, and the sense of proportion in it. And it is just such an interesting place!! Really makes me want to see more.

Great shot Dave. Sharpness is fine. Very nice composition and color especially. Looking at it, I really couldn't say I would change a thing except what is that thing in the sky in the upper right...it sort of looks like smoke from a fire but may be some kind of jpeg artifact. Its really not too visible and not a big deal whatsoever ...just curious.
Great shot

Hi David.
Very nice this "urban" landscape. This wide view looks great and the light is very good too.
