Hi Igor.

Beautiful, if slightly surreal, quality to the light and colour. The reflections make a dramatic difference to the level of interest and I really like the bird in the bottom right corner. Excellent work - it almost makes Salford look glamorous!!

Hi Igor,
A wonderful image with a superb mood. The sky adds great interest to the image in his warm brown colour which enhances the whole composition and preseantation. Light is wonderful on the buildings and the swan on the right adds a nice detail to it...i like it a lot, very good work. You have a good eye in seeing things and your pp skils a very subtile, i like that.

Hi my friend,

at first thank you for your motivation words on my last post. I know it's just a moment...but let's talk about this oustanding composition. Simply great. Everything work really fine: from sharpness, colors, pov, lighting to the final touch which is the reflection (the great addition in my opinion)...and the tobacco filter was welcome to enhance that color on the sky. Well, I like this a lot!

Huh Igor, I love this. It's a great mix of different architectures with a wonderful mood. All so calm in the middle of the city with wonderful colors, the swan is addid a romantic and nice touch. The reflections are very beautiful and most of all I love the almost surreal feeling and light from the sky. I had a lot of fun with your note and I am very attracted to that tobacco filter:-).

I love this composition with the great reflection of hte tower and the bird on the right. The mood you achieved with the tobacco filter in the sky repeating the tones of the building is great.

Excellent shot of the Salford Quays, perfectly sharp and with great detail. Very well composed with the buildings at each side nicely balancing each other. I would guess you definitely used the tobacco grad as the sky colour is not refelcted in the water. Good work

Hi Igor, there's a lot to like in this one. The reflections are good, but I also like that warm colour you've picked up (with that filter of yours), and your composition (with a bird again) works very well. The shot is sharp with great detail throughout, and as usual you have great notes. From a historical point of view now, this shot becomes important too, with the changing scenery. Take this shot again in another couple of years and do a compare.

Igor,
you can't remember for sure playing around with your tobacco filter? YOu must be kidding. This smells and looks like tobacco and trust me I'm a physician that knows about nicotine from daily life :-)
The 3s of exposure provides an interesting texture to the water and wasn't to slow to still get that white bird in the right corner well identified as such. Good balanced composition although I could live without the dark protrusion in the left part of the frame.

Hi Igor,
This is another very beautiful image, once again with a draughtsman-like quality to it. Light and colour management are superb and everything is razor sharp. I like your use of the tobacco filter and the bird in the corner also adds a slightly surreal touch.
I'm very intrigued by your post-processing work here after reading your replies to Henk and others. I haven't tried using either Capture NX or Gimp (Capture kept crashing my computer so I gave up and now use Picture Project to convert raw files), so that's something I'll have to explore.
Shame that the view has been spoiled since the photo was taken... and ridiculous prices for apartments!

The reflection is very good and your shot shows us very well the way how urbanism well used the revers in Great Britain: I have been impressed by the near part around the Thames near the docks in London.

Hi Igor, loved the note and yes i can say the same too, waiting for better weather to go out ;) I'm not sure this background and some new buildings ruined the view forever, i pretty like them, and the pov is sufficiently good to give an interesting distortion of really, they seem so small compared to the little house on lake :)

Be patient Igor, in few times you could go out and shoot, let the envy rise to its climax, your compositions will be even better :)

love the clear light here, and yes, it does look like a tobacco filter to me, which I also like, it fits well with the colours of the buildings and contrasts perfectly the steel gray/blue water. beautifully composed photo, I like a lot how you have placed the different buildings in one line, I find it interesting to compere the level of sophistication in the styles of the architecture :) I'd only wish to see a bit more on the right, the end of the stone pier (?) seems a bit too abrupt. but that's a minor poit.

I came on your picture starting from a very nice critique you wrote to Peter Boehringer about his unusual shot of Istanbul and the Blue Mosque. And Tthis is how I fell on this one, which had a great appeal on me. I believe(Although I saw no mention about it ) that you added some softness with PS because it is too dreamy. The result is really stunning and I wish I had such a beauty from London in my collection.

Just spotted this shot, very good nice colours, good to know I am not the only person still using the 80.s most over used filter! I now only use mine on B+W images to add contrast to skies. Have you tried converting to B+W?
