Photographer’s Note
I was originally going to post another photo from my Yemen trip, however I’ve just returned from long weekend in Dubai and spend some lovely time on a desert safari (among other things). Some of the photos I’ve taken are very graphical and create nice result which I thought I’d share with you. Nice thing about desert around Dubai is that the sand is orange with very thin layer of red sand on the top which adds additional richness to the overall color. This photo offers different desert view than my two previous post from
Yemen and Iran . I wonder which one you like the most.
Desert safari in Dubai is very touristic thing to do, but it is big fun too. They generally stop at some lovely place just before sunset and give you a chance to take some photos with a wonderful light too.
A trip to the desert offers a real adventure into the magnificent landscape of the unique sands of Arabia. This safari tour takes you right into the heart of the desert where you experience the excitement of a roller-coaster tour down the astonishing high dunes. A stop for a breathtaking view of the endless desert gives an opportunity to watch the sun-set over this tranquil scenery.
Afterwards you reach the camp where you can board on the 'ship of the desert ' and where you can enjoy the contrasts of a desert night. Here you can get an unique insight into the traditional life of the Bedouins. Dress yourself in the traditional Arabic dress, enjoy the freshly made Arabic sweets, try the 'hubbly-bubbly' and the henna painting and learn about the important role that falcons are playing here in the local life…..and if you had enough activities just laze around on the carpeted ground or wander around the camp and enjoy the silence of the desert.
There is a delicious BBQ dinner with grilled specialties cooked on site with choice between a variety of appetizers, salads and sweets and at the end of the evening there is a belly dancer performance. Programs from different agencies vary only little and cost around 40USD. Duration of the trip : 6-7 hours

Hello Lucie,
Great photo, the light is superb providing a nice texture on the sand and you chose well the pov with that "dead" plant in a foreground anchor job and the good shadow it shows.
Technically perfect, great master of the composition.

I love these types of graphical shots with the patterns from nature. Very well done. Good colour and the one piece of grass is nicely placed in the frame to take advantage of the long shadow.

Wow, the texture in this is really incredible! The low angle of the sun shows the shapes of the ripples perfectly, and you found a wonderful focal point in the tuft of grass, without which this would be kind of boring. Stunning shot, really, a work of art!

Hello Desert Queen! :) Great oranges here. At first I though you freshly discovered that orange saturation slider in lightroom, but reading your text I see you made a more natural discover. ;) Great shot of patterns and light. That simple and lonely plant makes the difference here. Like it a lot.

Lucie,
Nice textures of the sand, well seen and captured in your photo. You took good adventage of the low light. The composition also is very good, allowing the sand waves move diagonal, and the plant in one corner. Very well framed, good work.
the note is very helpful.

Hello Lucie,
What a beautiful shot, so simple and yet so effective. The sand has wonderful texture and colours, but what really makes it for me is the lone plant with its long shadow cast perpendicular to the ripples in the sand.
Very nice work!

hello Lucie,
this is an excellent graphical composition, the possibiliites for an artistic shot spotted by your photographer's eye. The dark demarcations of the lines of the sand waves and the dark shadow of the tuft of grass are complemented by your frame.

Great note and grat graphics Lucie, the light is perfect, the presence of the desert vegetation essential. I'm surprised there is still a trace of desert in the UAE which is not polluted by 4x4 tyre tracks.
