Photographer’s Note
Not my favourite time of day to shoot but I couldn't resist the canoers. Mount Rundle is one of the more well known landmarks in Banff National Park. The sun was almost overhead so a polarizer was not very effective here. This a repost from yesterday without the larger frame. I tried Dan's method but I'm not achieving the right result.

Hi Phil,
very good scene. I know how difficult it is to prevent the sky and upper parts of picture from getting overexposed in this particular time of the day.I appreciate ur work as u succeeded to some extent. The view of the lake with those boats are wonderful.
Greetings,

Hi Phil,
The light was indeed harsh. But you managed the exposure well. The red boats look really nice here, I like this version better than the original.
Thanks for sharing,

Phil whether or not it was near high noon when you took this photo the results turned out excellent in this frame. Good timing with the canoes in the lower part of the frame. I think I would have allowed a little more room in the frame in the upper section to allow the mountain peak to breath a little more for room. Good work though capturing one of western Canada's most attractive icons of nature!

Hi Phil,
Nice shot of this interesting Mountan view. Your composition and POV are fine showing the cabin from an angle giving us nice depth and detail. The lighting and color are fine with excellent sharpness.

Hi Phil,
I can see your struggle with the light, but the overal image and composition is so good that i had to work on it to show that it is possible, although it's difficult on this small size. I boosted almost everthing up what was possible....so at the end it's up to you if like it or not ;-)
A dark green for the composition, because i'll be there in August, looking forward to see this myself.

Hello Phil,
Good details of the shot. I like the impression of the minute kayaks against the giant rocks with pointy top with trees lining up making good separation with the water. Well composed and I like it.

Jusni

Hi Phil,
Despite the difficult light you have captured a beautiful scene with the majestic mountain sceen between contrast evergreens and pale blue sky. The canoers are a lovely additional element of this excellent natural landscape.

Hello Phil -
A very nice scene and you were right not to pass it up. Yes, the light was terrible, but what Henk has done in the WS has elevated the image above the snapshot to a keeper.
Thank you for sharing.

Hey, Phil,
I do like this better. Marvelous color and considering the time of day the exposure is just incredible. Great details of the canoists and the pines on the shoreline. Mad view, too!! Great job! Many thanks and warmest regards,
Shelly

Hi Phil,
Amazing shot of Mount Rundle. I love how you focussed on the big mountain, but still have a little water and trees. The two canoes are definitely a plus in this scene. Great composition with beautiful light, colors and details! Great work, Phil!

Ann
