These pinnacle shaped conifers are part of the great Hortus in Meran (or Merano in Italian). It's incredible how straight they grow and how tall these trees get.
The botanical garden in Meran belongs to the Trauttmansdorff Castle and plants from all over the world are gathered together here. The climatic conditions in Merano have proven to be exellent for this garden; it has the mildest winters in the German-speaking part of Europe. Therefore, many things can be realised here which would be impossible north of the Alps. |
