Photographer’s Note
This was taken early one morning in 1964. No visitor centre at Jarlshof in those days, and we imagined ourselves back in the various successive eras as we explored the whole of this prehistoric site with a small guidebook. The boy is in the very earliest building, holding the grindstone of a quern which was used to grind meal from a primitive form of barley.

Nice and very different picture. I like History (and also prehistory) and I guess you have had lot of fun at this place.
The picture is not clear and sharp enough. I suppose you have scanned it from the original. I have done a workshop in sepia (to increase the sensation of time). I hope you don't mind and you like it.
Best Regards
Víctor

Hi Winifred,
As a Shetlandlander this is quite interesting. Perhaps I'll go and take a present day photo for you. Have you been there in more recent years?
The quailty of the photo is fine; it's a snapshot of history, it's not necessarily fine art!
You are allowed to post a workshop of your own photo if you wish
Kind regards
Craig
