[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
An afternoon in downtown Brussels

Two ladies in companionship having a stroll, a photographer in the background taking some huge works, (see Workshop) downtown, boulevard Anspach, on a busy Saturday afternoon.

I had only 2.8 as F-stop, maybe it would have been better with all the people sharp...but I had to be fast and then I don't think so much:-)

Desaturation, increased contrast,5% warming filter, re-sized.

Ciao Michele ,
bellissima scena di vita quotidiana , mi piacciono le tre situazioni differenti che hai colto .
ottima idea l'uso del bianco e nero .
complimenti
Giorgio

hi Michele,
very nice scene with excellent perspective.Funny that I posted
today quite a similar scene, even the faces are resembling.
Horatiu

Hi Michele !
Very nice scene. Like the sad pair of the foreground - looks like tired and disillusioned. And the background is a great contrast to their lack of interest - all three looks like interested and agitated. Clever shot I think.
Very well goes in B&W.
Greetings T.

Bonsoir Michèle,
Madame Chapeau et sa copine... Bien vu!
Amicalement,
Catherine

F2.8 is about as peefect as it can be...
Those are pure marvels, those tubes - nowadays...

A photo with the mood, and with...Love - I guess...
Her posture, her hand inside his arm...

Do I have to spell more than that ?

Touchy producton, Michele

Hi Michele - I think that this version, with 2.8 is perfect, I really wouldn't like to see a sharp bg in this case... here you nicely capture and emphasize the expression and the pace of the main couple on fg... and the B&W enhances this message even more... regards, Daniel

P.I.P ovvero picture in picture. Brava, dolce Michele, i tuoi lavori sono sempre interessanti, hanno sempre un qualcosa di speciale che li contraddistigue dagli altri. Questa foto e il WS sono la prova della tua genialià e della tua bravura fotografica. Brava, come sempre.
Ciao
Paolo.

Hi Michele,

now this is strange. You posted very smiliar capture as Horatiu did on a same day. :) Two old ladies, similar expresions, friends in the autumn of life... Well, like they say, great minds think alike :)) I specially like this contrast between distant looks of ladies and focused one of that young boy. When older looking in the past, when young, in the future (workshop image). Excellent!

Kind regards,
Jeri

Hi Michele
No I think you were right to have the BG people slightly out of focus beacause they would compete too strongly with the two ladies. The B&W works well for this shot. We could read a lot into their expressions.
Phil

Hi Michele,

Creative composition to hold together all these different subjects in one frame...
The old ladies are very thoughtfull, and the young in their energetic moods..
Great choice in B/W.
EXCELLENT.

Hi Michèle,
Well this is another fascinating shot. My initial impression was that perhaps the three people on the left distracted from the portrait of the wonderful two old ladies, but of course that's what the picture is all about :o). I think in a way it's quite cinematographic, you know the moment when the camera switches its attention from one person and starts following another. It seems to me to be a kind of intersection or node from which various lines of movement are radiating out of the frame: the two couples physically about to step outside it and the photographer's line of sight upwards towards the construction works.
I also like the way there's a kind of hierarchy of attention (old couple, mother and child, then photographer) created partly by physical size and position within the frame and partly by the selective focus - so good use of 2.8 IMO!).
Take care
John

Hi Michele,
This is quite a nice portrait, the ladies look quite tired though! The photographer in the BG adds more story. B/W works really well here. I like this.

Shaeri

Une tranche de vie saisie en ville, une scène simple et pourtant donnant à penser, à réfléchir, à tisser des scénarios autour.
J'aime bien.
Amitiés, Grazyna.

Hello Michele,
I like very much this composition... all the personages so different and caught in the right moment!
Good choice of B/W effect.
Thanks a lot,
Mimi

I don't think you have to have the background people sharp in this one - they act perfectly to fill the space behind the two women bringing the composition into a narrative of the space they have crossed - the old rule - never have the subject leaving the frame .........with redundant space behind them ..........show a track or a trace of their passage.........and here you can imagine encounters or non-encounters......the echo of the woman and child is great,,,,,

Sensitive street image....very nice......

best wishes KEv
