Photographer’s Note
I don’t think that there is a lot to be said about this shot. The scene is very self-explanatory. Five photographers found ideal light conditions and themselves. One turned into a model, two are shooting the model, one is looking his LCD screen to make sure that the histogram is correct and the fifth is taking advantage of the moment. The whole scene happened during a TE meeting in the interior of the Hagia Sophia.
Have you seen the shots In Solitude (rigoletto) and In Light (isabela_sor)?
The other TE members that were scattered around in the Hagia Sophia at this moment were anes_lc, annikon, bostankorkulugu and irimi. Now, you can start doing some investigation and at the end you might know who the characters of this photography are.
Yes, we had a lot of fun and yes we were not allowed to use tripods and had to do all these shots handheld.

Hello Peter,
I figure we should always try to take advantage of conditions like this one to practice our portrait skills. You did very well not only composing the girl but also the photographers to have more action in the image. Light is excellent as it create a sense of mystery and the fact that only faces are seen in the dark left side of the image is very good. Very nice work Peter.

Excellent photo, Peter. I love the balance of light and dark, faces or hair springing out of shadows and the young girl's self-confident, slightly sarcastic pose against her 'admirers'. They are so lucky to have found such a pretty face to photograph in such a beautiful place.

Hello Peter.
Very good quality shot in low light, with wonderful lighting of the people's faces, and nice balanced composition. All attention goes to the girl on the right, who is so well placed in the frame. Very pleasing shot.

Olá Peter,
caramba, muito legal essa integração dos fotógrafos com a menina. Ela parece estar vivendo um momento hollywood. Você resgatou muito bem a luminosidade do ambiente para realçar os elementos humanos. Ficou ótima!

A master piece! Especially with the D200 which is not at his best in low light. How did you magage the grain?

Hoi Peter! Barbara.

Excellent use of the low light for this quadruple low key portrait. I like how the photographers are arranged in a triangle with the model separate. It sounds like you had a great time meeting new friends.

Hi Peter, the strong and warm 'Rembrandt'-light works great both on your daughters face (she realy enjoys being the model)and the photographers who seem to do their jobs with a lot of devotion and passion.
Great moment.

You are right that the light is fantastic in this shot. The composition works really well too, with everyone magically spaced around the frame and giving the shot an incredible balance. Somehow this reminds me of the famous Rembrant painting "The Night Watch", with figures light up well but surrounded by darkness. Superb!

Peter,
if only I need one single proof that doesn't matter if your gear is composed by a DXXXXXX or MkXXXXX with a million dollar lens fitted there's only one thing I can do: browse your gallery. That's the reply to your message and I'm sorry if I couldn't reply earlier but my adsl connection has gone on holiday for a couple of days. You are the proof that 1st come the photographer, then everything els.
Excellent quality throughout, excellent light management, excellent result delivered, excellent TE package...excellent..this shot is just excellent! A plause to the model too.

Hi, Peter. This looks like chiaroscuro, something Rembrandt would certainly have approved. The heads of the photographers emerge of the shadow, which makes them stand out very well. They also form a nice triangle and attract our attention towards the model. Well, light and composition are really great here.

Hi Peter,
Okay, this does look pretty surreal!! :-)
Why were you not allowed to use tripods in a dark corridor?!
Oh, I'm now really wondering about the output of the other photographers. Going to their galleries!
You did a good job here with the long shadows.

I have so much to say about this photo that it’s hard to know where to start. First of all let me just say that I love it. Pointing out the reasons why seems almost silly because they are so obvious. Instead let me just tell you that I have been enjoying your photos lately more than anyone else on TE. Every post is different and original. You seem to be using your talents to explore many different styles of photography and your creativity makes it interesting to see what you’re going to post next. Thanks for helping to make TE interesting for me again. This is one of those photos that inspire me to go out and start shooting again.
Keep the good stuff coming,

Olá Peter,
It looks like we have been failing to meet these days... I look at your gallery frequently, but I haven't write anything about them because most of your photos and notes have such an impact on me that I keep postponing my critiques to other time when I am more inspired. It may sound ridiculous, because I am aware that I rarely achieve writing anything much thoughtful, but...
This one features a masterful compo and light. The heads (I don't say persons, because only the heads are visible and that's one of the interesting things about the image) are very well distributed, the three on the right occupying the diagonal and the one on the left nicely balancing the smiling figure of your daughter, whose happy expression doesn't let the darkness of the place appear as gloomy and makes it kind of enchanting. You took very good and clever profit of the unique light an ambiance that you refer so in your post "Dreaming about Love". I am sure I would remind that ambiance even if you hadn't refer it, as it was one of the many things that impressed me much on that church.
PS: Tem todas as razões para ser um "pai babado". Além de ser muito fotogénica, estive a espreitar a pequena galeria dela e parece prometedora como fotógrafa; pelos vistos herdou os seus talentos de fotógrafo. :-)
Um abraço, José.
