Photographer’s Note
As I turned to leave yesterday's POV I saw this 'face' peering at me over the wall.
These two houses are in a terrace designed in 1935 by Basil Spence (who later famously won the competition to rebuild the war-devastated Coventry Cathedral). They were commissioned by the Dunbar local authority to replace a very old, unsavoury, row of fishermen's cottages known as Cats Row. The decorative arch above the doors is composed of pantiles set on edge, reminiscent of herring packed in barrels for export. No herring to be caught in these waters nowadays, alas.
Slight brighten, contrast, sharpness.

Hello, Winifred,
This is a really interesting shot. I love all the various lines and shapes. The row of stones in the foreground, the blue arch above the doors, the straight lines of the bricks and doors all contrast very nicely. I like the angled light and the colors are very nice. It's lacking a bit of shaprness, though, so I have done a quick workshop. Hope you find it helpful. Many thanks and have a lovely Easter!

Wnifred.
I have always loved these houses, but didn't realise that Basil Spence had designed them.
Interesting view, as when I've photographed them I've always included more of the doors, this emphasises the gorgeous archway.
I think Shelley's workshop using Photofiltre has really helped the image, but it's always an awkward art sharpening and getting the balance right. Photofiltre also seems to be a free windows programme
