Green has always been my favourite colour since I was a kid…. I just loved the shades as they darkened from the spot of sun in the centre to the shadows around in this shot.
I spotted this small pond littered with fallen branches and twigs in the middle of the wood while out walking with my family. The trees & vegetation were pretty dense around it making it tough to get the exposure I wanted but nobody ever said it would be easy, did they!

I don’t actually know what to call the growth covering the water surface. I guess it’s a type of moss or lichen but hopefully one of you guys in TE can put me straight and tell me exactly what it is. I have searched for it on the net but so far, unsuccessfully.

Anyway the shot is "as is", no processing other than size reduction. I took several different exposures trying to lighten the shadows a little but this one has the best colour and depth and is most like how it appeared to the naked eye.

As I don't have any photos taken in Ireland yet or any with an Irish subject, This pic will have to serve as my offering to St. Patrick I'm afraid. HAPPY PADDY'S DAY Everyone!

I liked this image cause its simple shapes and cause the colors, the light is fantastic too, like a spot light concentrating the attention in the central area
