Photographer’s Note
A number of wooden and tile-roofed old houses are surviving in the old quarters of Nara city. From higher places, it looks like ruffling water, just as depicted by a Japanese traditional phrase "甍の波(iraka no nami =ripples of roof tiles)".
Additionally, there are few thatched roofs in this sight. It suggests that this area was not a part of urban area but a farming village a few centuries ago.
