Another postcard from Dolomites...
The Three Peaks of Lavaredo are the most famous mountains in the Dolomites, a legend in the world of freeclimbing. They are easily reached from Misurina as well as from the Sesto Valley and when seen from the Locatelli Refuge, they are a breathtaking view.
Emerging from a large pedestal covered with white gravel, they are surprisingly compact, harmonically aligned, wonderfully shaped and coloured.
The Cima Grande (Big Peak) is the highest (2999 m) and it lies in the middle. The second is the Cima Ovest (Western Peak, 2973 m), while the Cima Piccola (Small Peak) is the lowest but the most elegant thanks to its slender forms, among which the Spigolo Giallo stands out as one of the most famous climbing faces.
It's almost impossible to see with 800 pix, but in the photo are perhaps 12 climbers in action only upon the firs peak!
