One of the great things about travelling around India is the incredible diversity in culture and geography. The Kinnaur district in the north-western part of India certainly makes its own unique contribution to the palette of colours that makes up the indian sub-continent. The mountains and the valley's here, are some of the most charming and beautiful in the himalaya's, and so are the people. The kinnauri people with their characteristic green hats(thepang), carry out their own quiet and distinctive way of life, seemingly unaffected by the rest of the world?
The picture is from the village of Kamru in the sangla valley. The people are watching a dance/parade preformed by some of the other villagers. Apparently they were celebrating some kind of harvest festival - or at least that was what I was able find out, interrogating one of the villagers, armed to the teeth with my hindi parleur.
PP: Cropped the picture and added a frame. Slightly darkened it and then added a little contrast. Automatic clairification. |

Hi Soren,
A really beautiful shot which has nice colours, a good light angle, and a good variety of facial expressions from the people included. I like how you've posted the image rotated 45 degrees it makes it eye catching, but I just can't help but wonder what the original looked like and keep turning my head to get a better look!
Thanks for sharing
Regards
Lee
