Hello everybody,
first of all let me say I'm sorry if yesterday I deleted this shot straight away after posting it; the fact is that everything faded to black when I switched from a software to another just to add a frame. Don't know why but this time I'm struggling a bit to find a good compromise after resizing for TE..maybe too much time off doesn't work well for me??

Now, straight to the point. I've just come back from my holidays. Almost 3 weeks of beautiful weather, where I've been sorrounded by a beautifully hot sun beside good food and wine..what a beauty!!
I'm happy because I got the chance to do some things like meeting my family, old friends and take some picture; I've also got the chance to meet 2 TE members in a sort of mini meeting but I'll tell you about this later when some picture will be ready to be posted. In the meantime just let me say a big big thank you to Paolo, Paola and Renzo for the wonderful time we had together.
Even if I was born in a small town called Pordenone I decided to start posting with a picture taken in Spilimbergo. I think this is one of the most beautiful little towns in the whole Friuli Venezia Giulia region and it is not far from Pordenone and placed in a beautiful area sorrounded by green vegetation and breathtaking views. It's famous because of the School of Mosaic (well known in the whole world) and, especially for me, for a tipical restaurant called "Al Bachero" where you can eat one of the most tasty foods on earth along excellent red wines, of course.
I got to this place in a glorious sunny afternoon to enjoy the best ice cream of the planet (another bonus point for this town) with the wife and the girls; on this occasion I took a look around to see if there was something interesting to capture and when I saw the Town Center with a small Church I couldn't resist. A few days later I was there again in the early morning to take this picture. What I liked was the completely absence of noise, with a fresh air coming from south east sorrounding my senses with a great feeling of Spring. I was there at about 5 o'clock in the morning and enjoyed almost two hours of peace and relaxation. I took about 50 pictures until 7 o'clock and I think this light condition is the best I met that day.
Unfortunately, and I have to say shame on me, I lost the note and I don't remember the name of the church while the building on top is the Tawn Hall; a beautiful example of restoration of a historical building. On the negative side I have to say I've never seen so many street lamps soooooo badly placed in front of beautiful photographic targets; if only I had my chainsaw with me......lol.
Technical note follows as usual, but let me say a few last words (in Italian) about the street lamps, directed to those effing inconsiderate souls that have put them there.
Thank you very much for reading.
All the best,

Igor

ps about the name of the picture. Spilimbergo is on the border of an area called "Grave del Friuli", where you can get some of the most gorgeous red wines on earth, mellower than others yet powerful. Just a note for you wine lovers out there (like my good self...who enjoyed quite a few very large glasses of the good stuff while on hols).

Hey Igor,
A lovely shot with great colors. The landscape kind of reminds me of the Tuscany region. Excellent composition with good light, perfect sharpness and a well chosen POV. Congratulations!!!

Natasha

ciao Igor,

Hi Igor,
Nice to see you back, sounds like you had a great time in Italy.
Really nice image to be back with too. I like the delicate but saturated colours, the fresh morning light and the strong diagonal movement created by the trees up past the church to the town hall on the hill. As you say, it's a bit of a shame about the street lamp on the left, but I see you've positioned it in such a way as to minimise damage :) The beautifully picturesque church is very nicely framed between the tree and the hill and works well as the main subject of the picture.
Look forward to seeing more shots from your trip.
Take care
John

Ciao Igor,
Complimenti e buona domenica!
Attila

A lovely image of what looks like a wonderful village to explore. As you say, the streetlamp is a shame but could be cloned out with a bit of care, should you wish (I know I would have done!).

The composition works very well, with the movement of the eye following the trees up the hill to the buildings and then back down to the church. The quality of light gives this a timeless feel - which is why the streetlight jars so much. Next time, pack an angle grinder in your camera bag!! :-D

Hi Igor,
Good to see you back, hope you had a nice trip.
Your first new entry is a very good one with a strong diagonal line and a mix of vertical lines from the building, makes it a very strong composition. Colour handling is deep and suits the subjects very well...i like this a lot.
Regards, Henk

Igor,
Great shot for a nice low POV. The lighting and colors are great with nice use of shadows. The photo has excellent sharpness and DOF giving us a crisp clean photo. The slope of the hill forms a nice diagonal that leads the eye to the church.
TFS,
Asa

Ciao igor.
Grande foto e compo, ottimamente bilanciata nei colori.

Ciao Igor. Well, if this is the sign of the sorts of photos to come from your trip to Italy, then I am hooked already. Fantastic composition that uses the diagonal so well. The light is beautiful, the details sharp and the colours soothing and warm. Regards. Klaudio.

Ciao Igor,
Ciao

Hello, the Namesake!
Very pleasant view of this beautiful place in Northern Italy!
Good composition and colours although I think it would be better to crop it slightly at right and increase brightness afew.
Also very useful note. Your reference about Italian foods reminded me about very tasty ones (especially, onion soup) which I've eat some time in Toscana.
Regards from St Petersburg, Igor

Hello Igor!
Very nice new photo, a brilliant composition. I like the light here very much and the colors look great. Fantastic sharpness and an excellent point of view.
Regards,
Jonas

Hello Igor.
A magnificent light and lots of shadows captured here. Superb viewpoint and great exposure. I like the slightly under-exposed look, to bring out the richness of the colours. The sharpness is just perfect. The scene has great depth, too, helped by the formation of trees and the placing of the hill in the top left corner. I really liked reading your notes, too. Well done.
Regards,
Andrew

Ciao Igor.
Ciao, Bobo.

Igor,
I actually already wrote my critique for this shot already yesterday and don't fell like re-writing the critique. Going back to the basics and improving the light management was a good one and now it looks perfect to me!
Peter

Hello Igor!
Wonderful place and perfect detail and clarity in your picture!
Great colours and nice point of view!

Caro Igor,
Ciao e buona settimana.
Paolo.

Hi Igor,
I really like the strong diagonal lines presented in this fine image. Lots of interest, excellent clarity and sharpness, and very natural colors. Well done and TFS. gerald

Ciao Igor,

A great image with really amazing rich tone and color, perfectly balanced with just enough saturation and contrast for a very soft and smooth feel to the image.

Hi Igor, first about the note. It's good to see you had a great time, you sound in a much better mood then you were prior to leaving for this holiday, so hopefully you've got enough sunshine in you to last until your next trip. I can't read Italian, but I have a translate button. I understand why you would want to write it in Italian for the administrators of that area, but your words were quite eloquent and could be used probably anywhere in the world where we see this kind of "architecture and planning". This is something we all have to work around.

The photo is great. You have some great light in this shot, with very nice play of the light and shadow down that hill. Colour is good, and I like the textures, especially seen in the brick. Welcome back Igor, we missed ya.

Thanks, John

hi Igor, and welcome back :)
looks (and "reads") like you had fantastic time, happy to hear that, especially what you told us about your last year's disasterous weather :)
great composition here, I like a lot the gently sloping hill, I find it goes well with the story about relaxed mornings and afternoons. but above I love the golden light, reminds me of oil paintings, really gorgeous. excellent details and otherwise impeccable quality, great photo.

with best regards,

p.s. I'm too lazy to read all the comments, and I'm sure someone has already alerted you about the little speck of dust in the upper left part of the photo.

Donato

hi Igor

Yes, the title and the photo share a common thing on the stepped slopes just below the building and it stepped down further nicely in layers. Somehow the layers of steps and the cone-shaped trees spotted on the terraced lawn give the view a garden feel. I like the tower being placed at right, off-center.

Good to know that you have enjoyed your holiday and back for more photo posting. Life is always more interesting to return to your root and recall your memories.

Hi Igor,
this is a amazing shot with great clarity and sharpness,
the light conditions are really very good,
nice note about your holidays:-)
Greetings,
Dimitris.

Well, the lamp post might be inconsiderately placed but they planted some trees in a good place to try and placate you. :)
The early light is lovely making those long shadows on the grass. The town planners also considerately built those buildings making excellent use of the sloping land to delight any photographer's eye. Good work, including a great note.

Hello Igor,

This is just fabulous. How did I know it was Italy from the thumbnail? Not sure ... just instinct, I guess!
What a wonderful way to show off your buildings, by putting them on platforms, on a hillside, so that they can all be seen without obstructing each other!
The early morning light is quite beautiful.
The composition of strong vertical, horizontal and even diagonal lines is very strong!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)
many thanks for your warm comments on 'Hole House, hiding!'.

Ciao Igor!!

Your point is exactly what I like to find on TE discover these small towns and villages off the beaten track but in every point as beautiful as the big crowded attractions. That's a nice simple view here but just a quick look at the belltower sets the context as it is sooo Italian.

Hello Igor,

A fabulous, almost surrealistic image of the village, Spilimbergo, augmented by a highly informative note. Your composition could not be better, the light and shadows, the colors and resolution — all perfectly managed.

Warm regards,

Bulent

Ciao Igor,
Ciao,
Alessandro

Ciao Igor,

Solo per esempio e sfogo personale (no punti, ovviamente):
A Modena scritte stupide sui muri.

Dario

Igor...perfect point of view. I am transported to the Italian countryside immediately. This shot really conveys what great places the italian country and small villages are.

Splimbergo come la Toscana!
Grande scatto!!!
