The Royal poinciana(Delonix regia) , also called Krishnachura , Gulmohar, OR FLAMBOYANT TREE offers splendid view when in full bloom. It is endemic to Madagascar, where it is found in the West Malagasy forest. It is also found in India, where it is referred to as the Gulmohar. In West Bengal (India) and Bangladesh it is called Krishnachura.

The Royal Poinciana requires a tropical or near-tropical climate, but can tolerate drought and salty conditions. It is very widely grown in the Caribbean, Hong Kong, Taiwan and southern China, and is also the city tree of Tainan, Taiwan and Xiamen, Fujian Province, People's Republic of China. National Cheng Kung University, a university located in Tainan, put Royal Poinciana on its emblem.

In the United States it is grown only in Florida, the Rio Grande Valley of south Texas, the low deserts of Arizona (as high as Tucson) and California, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, where it is the official tree of the islands. It is much adored in the Caribbean; for example, many Puerto Rican paintings feature Flamboyant Trees.

The Royal Poinciana is regarded as naturalised in many of the locations where it is grown, and is seen by some as an invasive species in some parts of Australia, partly because its dense shade and root system prevent the growth of other species under it.

The seed pods of the Royal Poincianas are used in the Caribbean as a percussion instrument known as the shak-shak or maraca.

hi Sagar!
u have captured the mood of the season very well. however, the magenta cast in the sky is a bit of a dampener.
by the way, "Krishnachura" for Delonix regia is a misnomer. this is the gulmohar tree. Krishnachura is a shrub or small tree with orange-yellow flowers. scientific name is Caesalpinia pulcherrima. i'm adding a couple of pictures of this plant to your WS.

regards,
Nabarun

Hi Sagar. Setting aside the grammar of Gulmohar or Krishnachura I liked the shot since it dipped me into nostalgia. Such trees with the flowers were aplenty where I stayed in Delhi till a few months back. You reminded me those days. Well done. Regards.

hello sagarneel

wow... that RED is really blinding... the combination with the green is nice too. not so sure about the sky though on this one. and why the HEAVY black frame? i feel, this red can sing better without it :)

warm regards,
kristaps

Hi Sagarneel,

It is very saturated but I like much these contrasts of colors. There is an artistic side in the image and this white sky emphasizes this floral composition well. Very pretty and pleasant glance, thank you Sagarneel.

With all my friendships and with soon,

Dear Sagar,

Good shot of Royal Poinciana.
I have a shot , of the same.

Krishnachura is the Bengali version, isn't it?

EXCELLENT.

Hi Sagarneel,
It's a very beautiful tree and you caught it wonderfully. The reddish grey sky is a bit annoying, but in a way it's funny that we can imagine that the slight red tone can come from the flowers.
I have seen much trees that look like this one in Dominican Republic, but I haven't managed to know their name. I remember someone telling me that they named them something that sounded like "rambolla", which can be a variant of "flamboyant".
I hope you don't mind I send another WS showing the a probable Dominican cousin of this tree.
Regards, José.

dear Sagarneel,
very vivid colors of the red, and green too.
the sky is cloudy, it is nice, if the sky were blue, this red would compete with the blue, that might be no good...
here in Japan, nuts of "mountain ash" may equal it at red...
thank you for your beautiful red picture,
Akihisa

Dear Sagar
Very nice...the colours of the gulmohar & the contrast with the green is fascinating. Sky has let you down & I would prefer a white frame perhaps.
Best Wishes

Hi Sagarneel,

it does not take much...a simple detail of blossoms and yet the capture becomes so rich with beauty. This layers of red and green create such a wonderful composition accompanied with great choice of angle. Beautiful.

Kind regards,
Jeri
