The third photo in this serial about Architecture Moderna (1921-1941) in Nis.
This building is a major headquarters building for the portion of the army of Serbia controlled from Nis.
If there was no demand to put two big statues of Serbian soldiers in traditional Serbian army attire for early 19th and 20th centuries, building itself would be pure moderna.
In 1999, right wing of the building (on this pic, on the left) was badly damaged, with big portion completely destroyed, in NATO airstrikes against FRY. Thanks to reasonable city's managers and architects, building's form wasn't changed when reconstruction finished, and its look and shape is completely preserved nowdays, even put on the list of an important architectural monuments to be protected from further modifications, etc.
I put this photo into black/white tones with some light blue channel, just to normalize sky color (blue) with yellow/gray color of the building (they match much better now then in full color).
