Delicate Arch - Arches National Park

Looking through my USA series of last year, I found this picture of the famous Delicate Arch in the Arches National Park. Maybe you still remember my last shot of it.
To visit the 14 metres high natural wonder, you have to walk a 2½ kilometers long trail (takes approximately one hour) starting at the Wolfe Ranch. We went there in the afternoon and stayed there almost until sunset. It was one of my favorite places on my USA trip.

I hope you like it and can give me some good hints,
Jonas

Hello Jonas

Ah yes the wonders of nature, I can imagine being at this place was a truly memorable experience.
The photo is really showing off the beauty of this place, but I guess you were lucky... a photo alone can't replace the real thing. Maybe in a few years I'll get to go there?

The composition for this photo is a bit strange to me, especially with the big rockface in the foreground. But it does add a great geological aspect to it all that really underlines what this area is all about to some people.
Lovely exposure as well, colour look well preserved and well balanced. Particularly the contrast between the arch and the blue sky.
Thank you for sharing.

Hallo Jonas,
You famed this one very well building a visual progression into the image, also the warm/cold color contrast is very nice.
Have a nice day JY

Hi Jonas,

Jonas,
This is a very nice landscape shot. The off center placement of the arch works well. Your composition is great with the inclusion of the lines in the foreground and the great sky in the background. The sky creates fine contrast to the earth tones of the rest of the shot. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail.
TFS,
Asa

The view is spectacular and the photo shows quite a bit of the local geology, which is a good detail for me. The colours contrast with the sky is very nice and the arch stand out very well. It is a really nice photo.

Hallo Jonas,
I think most of us take the walk up there which was heavy for me with all my gear on my back, but i made it ;-)
I was there very late afternoon because i knew during the day the light wasn't good at all. Seeing your Exif it seems you were here around 1pm, that maybe explains the hard light you got here without any contrast.
But what i do like is that curve in the foreground and that you made a vertical framing from it, i like that..!!!
Regards, Henk

Jonas,
Jumping from one desert to the next, quiet a different kind of desert, but both amazing in different ways. This is great quality image with excellent composition. Beautiful blue sky with nice cloud for interest. Very lovely and natural colors, not as intense as at sunset time, but still absolutely amazing. Thanks
Way

Olá Jonas, interesting vertical composition with all this foreground...It's unusual but I like it - it gives a diferent context. The place is amazing, indeed, and I would love to have the chance of a visit one day. Nice colors and textures.

ricardo

Hello Jonas,

It is interesting to wonder about how this sculpture of nature actually came around!
Most likely some differences in the density of the rock to allow this creation being left by wind and weather up through the millions of years...
A well balanced composition, great colours and details!

Greetings,
Pablo -

Ein Bild slebst rahmt der Bogen dar. Sehr schöne Aufnahme. Vieleicht wäre ein quadrtischer Zuschnitt des Bildes sinnvoll um den Vordergrund etwas zu reduzieren.
Viele Grüße,
Achim

Hello Jonas
Very good approach on this subject; the wind as a good artist has make a good job during many millions years.
I like also the rocky curve in the foreground.
Cheers.
