Hi Pat!
Your version is fantastic and the colors are much more natural than at Peter`s version.
Great POV and good composition .The boat is perfect placed and the light is wonderful.
Regards,Leo

Pat,
Classic image. this could as well be in the cover of the brochure of publication for Point Reyes. Great composition with beuatiful rich tone and colors. Love the heavy cloud in the background, very fitting to the shipwreck image. What is the story behind this ship. How did it end up here?

Attractive scenery,Well capture of angle and composition of space in this frame, well arrangement of light and color on subject and background too.Good work,TFS.

Hi Pat,
I'd say that your version is my favourite one. Tan's is also very attractive. You capture a good range of tones and a remarkable reflection.

Maria

Certainly very photogenic and I like your tight composition. The underexposed look matches the boat's state well. There is something in the upper right corner. Very nice, Pat. Regards,
Hakan

hi Pat,
amazing how every photo of this same place is still very different. I like a lot the dark colours here, especilly the brown tones, I find they emphasise the rust on the sides of the wreck. love the textures, and how you have layered the composition with the water in the foreground and background. nice :)

regards,
Kristine

Hi Pat, Good one, I like the dark reflections, good sharpness and colours. Chau chau,

Maria

Hi Pat

I agree with you, one must be there and choose an angle, a different day light or even at night..
I really like your vision for the light... I love it! And the good care with the composition between sky, position of the boat and reflexes..

Bonjour Pat,
on atteint ici le sommet en matière de lumières et de rendu des couleurs. Un cadrage et un POV efficaces, assortis d'une mise au point très précise.
Voilà une vue qui repose, et pas seulement la vue.
Regards.
Daniel.

Hello Patricia,
We have seen many of these the last few days. Hard to choose which one i like best, but this one come close as personal favorite. I love deep colours with heavy contrast and that is exactly what i see here....and i love it. Warm light on the boat, beautuful colour toning there, very good exposed and light control.
The incoming cloud is fantastic, another detail that seems not important but it sure is. On the bottom left, try maybe just a tiny bit open the shadows and you are there.
Others already mention the top right, easy to remove, not worth mention it.
A classic shot and a very good one....i really like it.
Regards, Henk

Hello Pat

the general construction of the picture is well made , the mood is very soft , I like the colors and the contrast also

Hi Pat,
here we have the dark one. Its amazing to compare the four versions, I like them all. A very nice example for the fruitfulness of TE meetings.

and best regards
Harriet

Hello Pat!
Good to see you again! Your version is very interesting too. It seems this old boat was the center of everyone's attention:-)
I like your POV, with good light and a partial reflection of the boat.
Well done,
Regards,
Marianne

Hi Pat,
colours in your picture are outstanding. Every detail has its proper colour mood. Side of the wreck is prove of what I said. I think the sunset was falling down on left side, the sunlight was not too strong or too weak, just accurate to highlight the colours. Cheers, Ivan

It's amazing how different people take the same subject and come up with entirely different images. I actually commented on John's tight framing, but here when I see that fog rolling in in the background I like this one too. The warm light gave you some wonderful colours. I also like the inclusion of the reflections. Good work
Kath

Hello Pat,
Fantastic shot, excellent composition and pov, lovely
colors and light, very good sharpness and depth of field,
nice textures and details in the boat, lovely reflections
in the water.

Angela

nicly done on the rusted areas.. not to overdone...

cheers

Hi Pat,
I like your version - excellent evening light and a closer up view than most, and you even got some reflection in the foreground. Great idea and great image. WEll done and TFS. Gerald

Pat,
now everyone got his or her version of this boat. Fantastic to compare the difference in light conditions comparing the early morning (mine) and the three late afternoon versions (Tan, John and you). But it isn't just about the ligth difference, but also about the different compositional styles that everyone of us choose. Finally the other aspect that seems to differ quite a lot is how each of us approached the theme in the digital darkroom. There we see that photography isn't just recording reality, but also about an artistic view and work.
The off center placement in your composition is really a very good one and the light gave you a full scale of the rusty colors. Personally I would have worked more on the left lower portion of the image to get more light in those deep shadows.
I wish I could also see Ron's version, however I just noticed that he deleted all his images from TE ... ?
Peter

Hello Pat,

I understand this is the most photographed wreck north of San Fransisco, hehehe!
You don't have to be ashamed of your version, in particular I appreciate the warm light from a low angle...
A well balanced composition, great colours and a fine sense of depth!

Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Pat,
Interesting to compare these, each seem to be taken at different times. I like the warm light on this, and angle seems to be optimal. Mass of clouds adds interest to the background. I'd crop from the bottom.
Kari

And this one is excellent too. The light is very well managed and the POV is perfect. I can see that you had a bit of a competition in here!!!
Antonio

Well Pat. It seems everything was said about this subject, yet, with my poor English, I'm tented to write some words.
The good is an enemy of the optimal but I wish I could shot this beauty like you and everybody.
I wonder if anybody has tried a HDR image ...it would respond some exigences ..
All the best

Hola Pat.
Interesting to see three shots of the same subject but with completely different point of view and PP work, also taken during different hours of the day, it's very interesting to see the discussion that have created the same shot between the TE friends that visited this wonderful shot. Very difficult to say which of the three is the best but personally I prefer yours.
Well done, TFS.
Cheers.

Hi Pat
This is a very good version, especially about the use of light.
It seems the boat is going to go away again, with that new ligt.

Hi Pat,
You have captured this famous ship wreck in brilliant moody lighting that adds to the mystic nature of this image.
Wonderful clarity and sharpness to go along with a striking reflection and a lovely blue sky.

Hello Pat
Have seen this boat from Peter's post..I like this version a lot, I think the colours are a lot natural. Like the compo. where the boat has been composed in a diagonal from the corner. A fine post, but it is interesting to note how each photographer sees the same object differently!
Best Regards
Angshu

Hi Pat,

Your TE meeting gave out many beautiful images. I really like the idea of meeting other people here because of the learning opps and fun involved. We are finally getting organized a meeting for the Calgary group so hopefull in the next few weeks! Your image is very nice. The soft colours of the early light and good details make this image very pleasant. Your perspective of this old boat is excellent and you placed it very well on the right. Thanks Pat.

Hi Pat,
great como. Works wonders with the lighting. i prefer this darker image, it sets the mood for the depressed look the boat has.
