[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
This shot was taken from the mouth of the Fraser River as we were embarking on a fishing trip. Most of the boats here are commercial fish boats who were headed out to fish for salmon. The Dept of Fisheries controls the amount of fishing to just a few days at a time if they are lucky so needless to say they all head out at the same time. Scanned from a slide.

The light looks very dramatic and the sunbeam couldn't be better placed than on the lighthouse. It must have been some sight to see.

A very busy day at sea! I like the rays of sunlight sneaking out from behind the clouds. Excellent detail on this. TFS

Hello Phil,
It looks like you were entering a sea of fishing boats. I hope you had a successfull fishing trip.
As other people noticed already the rays of sunlight going to the lighthouse are very beautiful.
Regards, Paul

I like the sunbeam fallin on the fog lamp and the high level contrast on the sea.
All boats going out to sea at the same time describe the essence about the fishing comunity.

It's a pity you coudn't clean the spech of dust showed in the left side of the fog lamp.

Kind regards, Francesc

Hi Phil,
A very busy looking fishing location indeed. Good panorama perspective and lots of blues to reinforce the moment. TFS. Gerald

Hi Phil,
The water looks a little bright, but the composition is outstanding, especially how you've framed the rays of light.
Thanks for sharing,
Shaeri

Nice shot! The sun light passing by the clouds gives a very special feeling, almost divine, as it was the light of heaven to guide the fishermen in this dangerous sea.
If I'm not wrong, the story of the "Perfect storm" (in the film Georges Cloney was the main actor)was based about a real evenement in this area.

Best regards,

Javier

PS: now, for two weeks I will be far, a travel to Moroco, I hope I will come back with some pictures.
Hasta la vista!

Hi Phil,
Lovely beam of light penetrating down through the lovely silver blue sky on the harbor light as the flotialla of fishing boats head out to harvest the salmon.
Regards, Tom

Very nice capture Phil, love how you caught alittle ray of light on the lighthouse. Well done..

Hi Phil;

Sorry for the long absense here on TE, I've been really busy with alot of other stuff recently. I do recall you enquiring about my horizon fix...
Click this link for the easy fix that I use. The good thing about that method is that it also works with vertical as well. So for example; if you have no defined horizon, but you have a point of reference that is also reflecting off water- you can draw a line from that point of reference to it's exact point in the reflection- which of course should be perfectly vertical right?
However, as we've seen with some of Nelu's shots, this will not always work in cases where you have barrel distortion. I suggest correcting the barrel distortion first- and then go for the straightening.
This horizon by the way- looks quite good. i like how the rays of light shine down onto the lighthouse.

Nice one!
