Beautiful use of light, Wolfgang. The friar's very earthly rest contrasts with the ethereal feel of the light, and the grain in the image helps that mood. Nice framing, too. Regards, Ken.

nicely managed light and a well composed image. I like the truthfulness of the scene. The weariness of this old friar as his duties take their toll. I like the bright splashes of golden light on the wall behind and above him and the diagonal geometry of the floor tiles work well as a contrast to the diagonal of the wall line.

The friar itself is a cultural highlight as such I'd say!
And you're right, he could have stepped out of an icon as such. Very nice photograph, despite a slight bit of noise of the low light. Look at that golden light! Very nice!!

Hallo Wolfgang! Was fuer ein tiefgehendes eindringliches Bild, dieser leicht abgestorbene Glanz und man hat des Gefuehl, dass dieser besondere Geruch, die Kirchen haben, foermlich aus dem Bild herauskommt. Herrlich wie er da so sitzt, leicht eingesunken, und ich kann mir vorstellen, dass das leise Gefluester, das in Kirchen herrscht, manchen etwas schlaefrig machen. Wunderbare Studie ueber eine besondere unbekannte Welt. Barbara.

Hello Wolfgang, The man's figure is beautifully displayed against the softly shining wall. Yes, the whole scene has the 'patina' of an old icon. For me, this captures the ambience of the building more successfully than a picture of spectacular architectural features.

This would have been taken in very low light conditions. A superb photo, especially because of the mood it reflects. The light from the left creates a light halo around the monk. Well done!

C'est une photo comme on en voit peu. J'aime beaucoup la silhouette de ce vieil homme assis en prière ou somnolant dans le fond de cette église. Les reflets du mur sont superbes et donnent beaucoup de charme à cette photo.

The atmosphere in this shot is very nice with the warm light just illuminating the sleeping monk and reflecting off the wall. Vertical format works well and I like the inclusion of the tiles in the foreground.
