Photographer’s Note
I had the good fortune of being in the company of two TE members, Steve (SteveH) & Kamran (kschanna) not only did we have coffee together & chatted but we also managed to take some photos. That's Kamran on the left. Thanks guys for a very pleasant day.
This shot was taken along the main St. in Williamstown. Originally Melbourne's first sea port, Williamstown has developed from what was a run-down industrialized centre into a popular and fashionable maritime village, featuring many historical buildings and a variety of cafes and restaurants. The suburb is surrounded on three sides by water, with the northern and eastern coastline dotted with piers, gardens and remnants of Williamstown's maritime history. Williamstown beach is located on the suburb's southern coastline and features a sweeping expanse of sand fronting calm swimming waters.
With this scene I was inspired by Fabio (fabio ts) after seeing his series on Trieste in the Mirror.

Hi Santo,
Artistic approach with a very pleasing result. Looks like a very cold day, just like today in Sydney.

I've seen many shots using this trick. Here it really works, makes me stop and look closely to figure out "which side up";-)

Hello santo. A confusing picture, - indeed. But if it is turned around 180 degrees, the thing is clear. The photo is a successful example of a reflection and a turn. A good idea. Photographically outstanding realizes. Best regards, Wolfgang.

hi! this is one of the photos i have seen that take the usual trick but with a very interesting twist to it. that twist makes this photo a great one. though i had time looking for the right side up but it doesn't matter...it still got the interesting perspective. i love your work.

Hi Santo,
Interesting experimental image. The mirror effect is very nice but hard at first to understand the image. Nice light and details. Nice work Santo.

Hello Santo,
A tricky picture. It actually took me a while to realize it had been turned 180°. It's much more fun this way, when the composition has bevome really intricate, almost surrealistic.

hi Santo
You have smartly done the trick here. Either way, the rotation is making reflection more interesting purely because of the part of pointed roof shown on the puddle of water.
I can see you have started to use creativity and imagination for this post. Great observation from the pool of water.

Hello Santo,
Nice composition, you certainly found a way around the annoying 'parking thing' on the side of the puddle and chose a set of rather interesting subjects ;)
I like the nice quirk you have done with the shot. The sky looks interesing despite how bland it was in reality.
Thanks for sharing

Hi Santo.
I just looked at Steve's Williamstown shot, and got the link to yours.
Very interesting composition in this reflection shot, cleverly turned upside down. As with Steve's, it just reeks of winter wetness and cold. Colours are great. It's a great place for photos.
Now to see if Kamran has a shot up.

Andrew

Hi Santo
Excellent idea to flip this shot. The effect is so dynamic. You've managed to turn what could be an ordinary scene to an excellent photo. The sharpness is excellent and you've dealt well with the sombre light.

Hello Santo,
Your note mentioned "that's Kamran on the left" and without thinking further I expect you to tell us that Steve is on the right. Then I realised that she can't be Steve.
This photo creates an optical illusion. The BG scenery and the gable roofs make it looks as though the two real persons are coming out from the water reflection. Very creative posting. I actually downloaded the photo and flipped it over to get my mind to understand the reality. What a good idea.

Hi Santo, we all looked into that puddle trying to find a shot in it (must have looked strange to passersby) and you managed to pull a good one out. Turning it upside down works well. cheers, Steve

Hey Santo,
People in Australia - with warm clothes? Something doesen`t seem right. :> Was this your usual weather or a once in a life-time thing? I bet you manipulated those two into wearing sweaters and wind-breakers, when it was actually 35 degrees. :>
Anyway, I like the photo, I like the trick. Nicely composed.
P.S: Didn`t drink that much Irish beer, but it is good, yeah - though I preferred cider to be honest.

Hello Santo,
This street shot making use of reflection draws my attention very much. Although the expression of the two people and the another tripod are interesting, the way to show at the upside down is excellent.
Best wishes, Hisashi

Hi Santo,
Waow that's too funny ! Excellent shot ! And I like the way you turned is upside down (well you're downunder after all, or am I ?... subjective feeling ;).
With a daily scene, in daily life place with bad weather, you made a very artistuc and surrealistic shot ! Awesome !
Good night !

Hello Santo
This kind of boggled me for a bit, I think it was the van being upside down, good creative mind to shoot this and it is a very clear reflection. Like the composition and neutral colours in the puddle and pavement - any fish in this puddle at all :-)!!
Well seen and captured

Hello Santo,
Small ponds are often the best reflectors as the water usually is calm like the mirror itself!
This is a good one with practically no distortion at all, and the colours usually get more rich in the reflection...
The winter seems to be evident in some naked trees only, but I heard Sydney had snow the other day!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Bonsoir,

Hi Santo,
Wonderful imaginative shot with such a striking reflection.
The sharpness is excellent in this dull light.
The young lady seem to mind the winter temps more than the young man.
Wonderful composition from down under.

Hello Santo,
So in down under they make their pictures upside down.
I really like the result here on this photo.
Also the fact that in the reflections you see more (the top of the trees and the clouds).
Well done, Paul

Santo,
what a weird and twisted image. I couldn't figure it out as a thumbnail and it took me some seconds to realize what you did here when looking in to the main post. Great imagination and previsualizaton to turn it around.
It is also a perfect play for the difference of season at the two hemispheres. While you're in the middle of Winter, there we're in the middle of the Summer. So, there aren't just the reflections in the water, but also the reflections of the duality in which we live at each hemisphere - always opposite.
