Photographer’s Note
An acclaimed Kasbah a 'fortified city' near Ouarzazate is that of Ait Ben Haddou. This is still in reasonable condition. Ait Ben Haddou is so well known because several films have been shot there, including
• Lawrence of Arabia (1962)
• The Man Who Would Be King (film) (1975)
• Jesus of Nazareth (1977)
• The Jewel of the Nile (1985)
• The Living Daylights (1987)
• The Last Temptation of Christ (1988)
• The Sheltering Sky (1990)
• Kundun (1997)
• The Mummy (1999)
• Gladiator (2000)
• Alexander (2004)
We spent the night in a hotel near Ait Ben Haddou so we could visit the kasbah early in the morning. The light was beautiful and it didn’t take long before we were accompanied by a friend; no people but a dog. Aït Ben Haddou is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987

It looks like a toy city, also due to the very strong light and the reflection. Very beautiful.

Hello Ingrid,
It is his splendid picture reflection and perspective.
In this dry country that is Morocco I think this picture is unique.
I have this Kasbah painting in my living: I did not see a reflection in the water.
It is really a great idea.

Ingrid,
Very interesting shot - your movie references seem particularly apt to me -
The place simply looks unreal - like in a movie - maybe it's just a model - a series of cardboard cut-outs seen in false perspective -
And here, you've framed this fantasy reflection in the waters - but what waters - seems little more than a puddle, with a dog lapping it up and a bit of floating rubbish - almost you seem to be giving us the grand fantasy, the calander shot - and the everyday reality all at once. Interesting.

Hello Ingrid,
I like the reflection of the city in water and the dog on the foreground. Colors are also great, and you have choosen an original point of view.
There is a lack of sharpness in the background (on the city), no ?

Hello Ingrid,
Superb! The dog is an attractive presence in this astonishing landscape. The side light is excellent. The colors are natural and pleasant. Obviously, the reflection is spectacular and splendid. Congratulations.

Ingrid, that is a perfect shot, reflection of the Kasbah and the Kasbah itself and you were lucky that there also is this dog in the right corner, what makes your picture outstanding.
Best regards

Hello Ingrid
I've seen quite a few of the films you mentioned but yet did not know the name of this place! This is quite an amazing man made structure...what's the age? Good reflection in the shallow pond. The light is good, but you could have done some sharpening on the BG IMHO. Otherwise a fine picture & a good note
