Photographer’s Note
A mere 45 mins ride by boat from the tiny town of Semporna(on the east coast of Sabah)will take you to Maiga island which is well sheltered from the monsoon winds all year round. On the afternoon we arrived here, the water was as still as in a lake, perfect for snorkelling but a huge disappointment for anyone who think about surfing.
Those shacks in the background are the typical dwellings of the Sea Bajau known to have immigrated illegally from the Southern Philippines and settled here for generations. Beside the coconut trees, there is no sign of any form of cultivation, the Sea Bajau seems to survive on fishing alone. There is no bicyle, no car, no clinic and everything else, just a couple of shacks, canoes and a few Sea Bajaus. Vistors to the island are far and few, surely not a place for those who seeks the comfort of an air-conditioned hotel room and fine dining. I can predict what it would be like on a moonless night, perfect silence and darkness with the stars as the only source of light.

Hi Alfred. This is so beautiful and your description makes it sound like a rare place, away from the rat race. Lucky people in a way, unaffected by terrible daily news of violence, wars and violations. they must be at peace with themselves and their surroundings- at least that is what your image conveys. beautiful colours. regards. Klaudio.

Hi Alfred,
Another picture perfect postcard from you.
This island is soooo beautiful, I wish I was there walking along the beach.
Lovely composition and POV, the saturated colours work well in giving that holiday atmosphere.
Cheers

Hi Alfred, seems that you are exploring some interesting places too. The CPL was a good choice, giving you an attractive sky with good contrast with the clouds. Good composition too, showing us the small shacks and boat protruding into the sea from the palm tree lined beach. A very appealing image, from cold wet Melbourne. Cheers, Steve

Hi Alftred,
Some observations:
Has TE increased the file size that can be uploaded?
Some kind of artifact on top left corner.
A lot of yellows ... strong at the water's edge & small tree and it's shadow.
Composition is excellent. View & atmosphere is very inviting.
I'll try a WS to address the issues I raised ... according to my preference & imagination of reality of course.
Regards. Latiff.

Hi Alfred,
I like the photo overall, of course it is composed thoughtfully, but something about the green looks fungusy in places. I suppose it is the algae looking stuff on the boat hulls and water edge.
Anyway, it looks like an ideal place to be. I have to say it's not your best, but it's good enough!

Hi Alfred
Malaysia looks like such a pretty country. I love those tropical colours and the cute shacks and boats. It's great how you included the edge of the beach in the corner and the tall trees opposite.

Alfred,
the scene is absolutely beautiful and very inviting. Relaxing atmosphere fill with calm and serenity. Great composition, perfect actually. I still do think the saturation of the color is pushed a bit too far for this shot. The sky is no longer blue but purple. It's beautiful but not natural. Most of your shots are tend to be that way, most are kind of on the borderline, this one has gone over just a little bit too far. That's my humble opinions.
