Photographer’s Note

A huge beautiful corn field on the outskirts of Hertingfordbury, near Hertford recently harvested and full of bales of hay. This is one of the far too many to count.

Such a peaceful lunchtime walk and a lovely way to relax from work!

Converted to B&W and levels adjusted using Photoshop Elements 6.

Hi David.

I actually quite like the strong shades and deep shadows. I might have taken this from a slightly higher viewpoint to include more of the bales disappearing into the distance.

Still, a really nice "available light" shot.

So, do you live / work in Herts? I'm only across the border into North Essex...!

Firstly I had a chuckle at your wish I was here image, I mean I have been to these so called over-run resorts but not on a scale like you had captured. Seriously it was as bad as a rush hour London tube situation if not worser.
Wise choice to go black and white with good tonal ranges. I like the low POV, and if you had maybe a human element to show the scale of the rolling hay then it would have been even so much better but we never always can get what we want. A nice walk for you David im sure.

je vois que les bottes de foins sont aussi à la mode en Angleterre, j'ai pris le même genre de photo. la tienne donne très bien en noir et blanc j'aime beaucoup.
