Photographer’s Note
can't seem to hook myself off clicking dance ... while analyzing this phenomena (and myself) i realized i'm rather attracted by the dynamics of movement so probably a soccer game would trigger my fantasy just as much ... or not? he he he - no idea - never tried it just yet - but i'm hopeful ;o) so ... future will tell
* can-can performed by one of the Smiley Girls from Marghita/Bihor at Festum Varadinum 2007
-------------------------------------------------
The can-can (also spelt cancan, Can Can) is regarded today primarily as a music hall dance, performed by a chorus line of female dancers who wear costumes with long skirts, petticoats, and black stockings, harking back to the fashions of the 1890s. The main features of the dance are the lifting up and manipulation of the skirts, with high kicking and suggestive, provocative body movements. ( ... read more here)

T: a great BW composition - you already must know - as important as what's been included is your vignetted omissions into the shadows. very nice, c

Hi Teodora,
I don’t know if a soccer game awakes fantasy, but you’ve captured such a scene that… it is impossible not to be attracted…The moment you’ve shot, definitely has the soul of cancan. …motion, white line, pose of the dancer; her arm gently open to one side, her head slightly turned to right … And B&W... Amazing details captured in an amazing moment. TFS,
Burcu

Olá Teodora,
The hard light creates more dramatism to the composition. Well done

fantastic photo, Teodora, I love how just with few lines you have captured the beauty of motion in dance. the elegant posture of the dancer creates the impression that the movements are effortless, as if she was walking on clouds. and smart use of B&W, it certainly focuses attention on shapes and lines instead of colours. beautiful work, my compliments.
best,
Kristine

Very slick and stylish once again Teodora, the movement of the strips of white just look brilliant against the black.
My racehorse 'Ze Can Can' runs its first race in a few hours, so I just had to comment on this one :)

Hi Thea,
Amazing black and white shot. Strong contrasts are perfect for this image.
It is not easy to have the body of the dancer so shape with the clothes blur.
Well done.

hello theodora
fantastic dynamo in this shot! i love the play of light and the 'absolue' ambiance darkness. not so sure about the left side thogh: seems too abruptly cut off, but that could be me ;)

I really don't know why I did not open this one before, the movement is super and this white oblique of the skirt so elegant, just perfect !
Must be really difficult to take a photo in movement like this... Splendid !
Best,
Cath.

The light and tonality are beautiful. The frame could have done better with more space around the dancer. Cropped too tight on the left.
