Photographer’s Note
One of the highlights of the Royal are the clifs along the ocean. This set of falls is set along Curracarong stream. We had a wonderful hike and then a swim in this pool last week. Just below this beautiful pool the stream plunges 100 meters down into the South Pacific as "Curracarong Falls".
The Royal National Park in New South Wales is, by different counts, the first or second oldest park in the world. The US had agreed to preserve Yellowstone in 1872, but "National Park" status was not conferred on Yellowstone until 1883; meanwhile Australia beat them to the punch by setting aside this area as a national park in 1879.
Tough exposure here. Water falls fast, and I wasn't carrying a tripod. The contrast between the dark and light areas was also pretty high. I tried to flash fill the underside of this rock to show the amazing ferns, but it didn't have much of an effect. According to the EXIF data, this is one of the exposures without the flash fill. I did a touch of PP with the virtual grad filter to darken and color the sky above the waterfall.

Hi Mike.
You did a good job with this considering the exposure difficulties. I think the end result of your well explained PP work is pretty successful. It's a great viewpoint for a photo of these falls. The rock details have come across very well and the sky is convincing! I don't think I've ever been to this park and have never heard of these falls. Thanks for the interesting note.
Regards,
Andrew
