Photographer’s Note
Lebanon, since “the 6-Day War” of last century, has spent many efforts in weaving the fiber of peace but seems in vain. The long lasting uncompromised between Christians and Muslims implies internal division and external influences. Beirut, the capital, was once a vibrant city earning the nickname of Middle East Paris. But now, even though large scale redevelopment cannot help to fully rebuild the ghost-town-like city centre. We just spent 2 days in this city and that second day was the Election Day for the replacement of two assassinated councilors. No wonder tension was high and army check points and road blocks were seen everywhere.
