Night falling over Volos Photo

Photographer’s Note

As I said in my last post, I just came back from an 8 days trip to Pelion Mountain, in Magnisia Prefecture. One of the most beautiful places in Greece, with fantastic natural beauties, so deep in the heart of forests, but at the same time, so close to the sea. You can also enjoy the very impressive traditional architecture of the picturesque villages. I mostly, wandered around the northern part of Pilion, the "less travelled and discovered" part, having as "base" the beautiful village of Zagora for 5 days and then I stayed for 3 more days in Makrinitsa.

One of those days I started from Zagora, heading to Keramidi and Veneto villages on the northernmost edge, right beside the "borders" with Larissa Prefecture. I had to drive more than 80 km, 40 of them in dificult dirtroads in the heart of some of the most dense forests I have ever seen. When it was time to return, I decided not to take a risk and get lost in the forest in the middle of the night, so I drove all the way down to Volos and then all the way up to Zagora. On my way up, I saw this beautiful view of the city of Volos.

During my stay in Pelion I made some short visits to Volos and Almyros, where I had the chance to have very pleasant meetings with Argyris ( Azaf1 ), Costantino ( COSTANTINO ) and Georgios ( TopGeo ). So this photo is dedicated to them!

Hi Hercules,
a great blue hour shot! The exposure of 22sec. blurred the clouds, which gives a nice impression of movement, great colors you have here, this stripe of red looks great and so do the lights of the city. A great shot with perfect light management, great!

ακόμα δεν προσγειώθηκες βλέπω,πάλι κάτω από τα σύννεφα είσαι και έχεις τραβήξει άλλη μια εντυπωσιακή φωτογραφία!

sobrada! Si no fuera por el mar, la vista de

what a fantastic view!I love the numerous small orange lights,orange like the sky above them,it's wonderful!The contrast with the dark blue and black is superb!There is an incredible clarity in this dark picture,i don't know if you understand what I mean!anyway,it'ss wonderful!Congratulations!

I looked at your photos back to front! Then I see that all my Greek friends joined, fantastic! I would have been happy to be also with you...a next time maybe!
These sunsets both (with the WS) are magnificent everything in blue and pink. The effect of clouds is impressive with this long time of exposure which also allows to strengthen the lights of the city (I like very much the ribbon which makes the road for Larissa by crossing the mountain.

P.S.: You're right in your last comment; the tomatoe-bunches are typical for Pyrgi, but in Olympi and Mesta you'll find them also.
