Features of Shark Bay Photo

Photographer’s Note

Found this one in my 2005 archives: this is a section of the coastline at Boat Haven Loop, at the southern end of the Shark Bay World Heritage Area, some 750kms N of Perth, Western Australia. The whole of Shark Bay is a paradise for anyone who loves the sun and watersports (that's me!) - but, as the name implies, beware of what's in and under the water! I had this place to myself for 3 days, when I sailed my small yacht here from the nearby seaside town of Denham.

Hi Jeff,

2005! I didn't even know they had cameras back then let alone digital ones :) This one has it all going for it regarding depth and sky. Might have been even better in warmer light but that's a minor thing.

Hi Jeff,
sky and earth combined in a perfect match with the great addition of the ocean. The colour of the costline, with that hint of green, creates a beautiful contrast against the blue of the sky and brings life. The whole compo is beautiful to look at, with its relaxed and peaceful atmosphere. I like it.

Hey Jeff!
The compositon is great! You associate differrent types of terrain: rugged, stony and mossy with the beautiful colour of the sky and in consequense of the sea.

Hi Jeff,
Never been there but heard lots of good things, have to put it on my must see list.
Good looking shot, the composition works great, really good balance. The different colours mix well and the shot is as sharp as.
I like the post job as well, subtle, but gives the right of frame a slightly different look.

The scenery is certainly striking and I like how the band of seaweed adds depth. Great sharpness and those clouds stand out so well against the blue sky.
