Photographer’s Note
Burmese constellations
This is the last posting for Maha Wizaya Pagoda. This bell shaped pagoda has a hollow inside and its interior is very colourful and beautiful.
In the main posting you can see a shot of the ceiling which is decorated with many different figures representing the most diverse constellations that can be seen on the sky of Burma. While visiting this part of the pagoda I noticed the lights of each constellation coming on one by one. At the end, I realised that the guardian of the pagoda turned the lights on for me and as soon as I had finished he turned them off again. This was a very kind attitude which prompted me to make a donation to the pagoda.
Another feature of the pagoda’s interior is the display of paintings representing all famous Burmese pagodas and the large collection of Buddha statuettes, made of different materials such as terracotta, timber, jade and even pure gold. The WS1 shows the Kyaiktiyo Pagoda (Golden Rock).
The ceilings of all four entrances are decorated with paintings which represent Buddha in different daily life activities. In WS2 and WS3 you can see two of them. All the paintings are lit by spot lights which make photography very challenging.
Due to the difficult light conditions all the shots are far from being technically perfect but I still think they were worth the posting for its documental significance.

Bonjour Antonio

Hi Antonio,
absolutely worth posting, it's a fascinating capture. Far from being technically perfect, I think you've done a marvelous job with this image. Perfectly exposed, sharp as a pin and the composition is perfect.
Great shot, I had no idea there were so many animals depicted in the constellations over Burma.
Very informative shot and also the note that goes with it, thank you for posting.
Cheers

Enhorabuena!
Un saludo,

Olá Antonio,
Amazing view of dome from inside while colorful paints and lights on them making your frame unique one. Excellent capture of lights and dome textures, I also like your three complementary posts include closer view of colorful paints.
Parabéns e Abraço!

Excellent work, Antonio!
Indeed challenging light for taking photos, but I think
you managed great with (I believe) high ISO.
At the very first look I thought this photo was of a
children's bedroom ceiling, because of the simplified
ornaments, but your informative note accompanied by WS
photos tells another story.
VERY interesting post!

What a beautiful series of photos. The details of the night sky in the pagoda are really lovely. I haven't seen many people posting from Myanmar and I wonder how people are doing there.

Bela mostra. Abraço, Consuelo

a really curious subject it was a good choice to share it with us. The composition with the inclusion of the border allows to understand its shape.
Well done!

After reading your note, I will conclude that the guardion of the temple is not only kind, but also well good in both psychology and marketig, since his little help with the switch triggered the gift to the temple.
But clearly the ceiling is much better with the little lights on.
All the best,

hi Antonio
I like this view of the scientific but presented in art form of the pagoda. Quite interesting to see all the animals and symbols, I wonder if it relates to horoscope or astrology? But definitely something to relate about history.
A fine TE post. tfs
