Photographer’s Note
Struggling with his tripod, in the bleaking sun of the Acropolis, protected by his straw hat and white clothing...
I love these photographers we see everywhere, often with primitive equipment, mostly working for local tourists.
This was taken almost 30 years ago, but even recently I saw these guys with old nikons, canons, zeniths or whatever trying to earn a living, while we just walk by with our newest digitals and high end lenses...
would make a beautifull theme for this website ?

Hi Marc, a very interesting shot. this just shows how sturdy these cameras are, and he's usin a wooden tripod. That thing must have some weight! A travel back in time, tahnks for sharing, Alex

Bonjour Marc,
Assez spécial, ce photographe aux prises avec une caméra des plus coriaces.
En y regardant de près, nul ne peut prédire lequel de la caméra ou du photographe gagnera la partie.

Hello Marc, I really like this shot.I can't believe that it was taken 28 years ago!
It is a very good composition.I like all the details.
I wonder if he eventually found success with his camera?

Hello Marc
I have to be honest, I thought this was some kind of performance art, which thinking about it has definite possibilities if I were inclined to that street theatre thing. This is a wonderful picture. I think you should seriously consider putting some time into this in photoshop. A selection arc with the curve of the hill>feather>blur tool to separate those unwanted elements (people) from the excellent subject.
Despite that I will have it as a favourite

Hi Marc
A truly nostalgic composition with the old photographer. Not many are left unfortunately, a touch of local color and history. Well presented in very good character for a scan

Super Marc, and reading your note I'm surprised to realise that this photo is so old... Even the tourists behind don't seem out of fashion and the old photographer ? I think that this kind will never die (fortunately !)
Just "delicious" and a bit funny too, bravo !
Cath.

Bonjour Marc
cette scène est pitoresque. Il est drole de voir un confrère avec un tel appareil. Je ne pense pas que nous sommes nombreux sur TE à posséder telle antiquité.
Joli clin d'oeil.
