Photographer’s Note

Stunning Karijini National Park in the Hamersley Ranges 1500km north of Perth. In the vast open spaces of western australia is this magnificent park, according to the park ranger it's 2 billion years old and has some of the worlds must stunning gorges (more to post during the next week or so) arriving in the park by the east entrance and heading to Dales Gorge you find Fortescue Falls, Fern pool and circular pool.
this photo is taken at the top of Fortescue Falls looking towards fern pool which is just out of sight at the top of the photo. the water is crystal clear and cold which contrasts nicely with the 40+ degree temperature surrounding you. I have travelled extensivley around australia and this park is one of the most unique cosidering there are several gorges and a large number of swimming holes to explore in the desert? the rock formations are simply stunning, when the wet season starts the water levels can rise 7 - 8 metres and you get better understanding of the worn rocks faces and jagged gorge walls.
If you come to Western Australia put it on your list of things to see, it's a long way from anywhere, but very accessible - you won't regret the experience.
