Photographer’s Note
Stunning Karijini National Park in the Hamersley Ranges 1500km north of Perth. In the vast open spaces of western australia is this magnificent park, according to the park ranger it's 2 billion years old and has some of the worlds must stunning gorges (more to post during the next week or so) arriving in the park by the east entrance and heading to Dales Gorge you find Fortescue Falls, Fern pool and circular pool.
this photo is taken at the top of Fortescue Falls looking towards fern pool which is just out of sight at the top of the photo. the water is crystal clear and cold which contrasts nicely with the 40+ degree temperature surrounding you. I have travelled extensivley around australia and this park is one of the most unique cosidering there are several gorges and a large number of swimming holes to explore in the desert? the rock formations are simply stunning, when the wet season starts the water levels can rise 7 - 8 metres and you get better understanding of the worn rocks faces and jagged gorge walls.
If you come to Western Australia put it on your list of things to see, it's a long way from anywhere, but very accessible - you won't regret the experience.

hi John
I think this is a beautiful image and the place is really stunning, good colors, sharpness and composition.
I just think also that you force a bit the PP work, the sky is much blue to my taste.. :)
good work however..

John, Beautiful place captured very nicely. Id have to agree that the sky might be a bit too "blue" per se. Perhaps if it was less intense, the viewer could focus more on the clarity of the water and its green surroundings. Nevertheless very good capture!

very surprising to find this! nice capture and colors, although there is a lot of 'noise' in the sky.

Hi John,
This one brings back some memories and I have a similar shot although not as good (didn't have the D40 back then ;-).
I remember seeing some guys scuba diving this spring which I thought was pretty weird at the time.
The shot does have some noise in the sky and I just wonder of this is a result of a slight oversharpen(?) but can well believe the sky was that blue having been there.
Cheers
Matt
