Photographer’s Note

Royal Castle (Zamek Królewski) in the city of Warsaw (Warszawa). The present building is a reconstruction of the complex bombed during combat in September 1939, and blown up by the Nazis in 1944. The reconstruction project was designed by Jan Bogusławski, on the basis of the prewar state (the project was put into life in the years 1971-1988). The construction of the Castle was began by king Zygmunt III Waza. The Old Castle was designed by Jan Batysta Trevano and Vincenzo Scamozzi. During the reign of the Saxon kings, in the first half of the XVIII century, a New Castle (of August III Wettin) was build, with a rococo wing facing the Vistula river (constructed in 1737-1746, designed by Gaetano Chiaveri) and a northern wing of the Yard. The enlargement of the Castle that took part during the times of king Stanisław August Poniatowski consisted of the southern wing (constructed in 1765-1771, designed by Jakub Fontana) as well as Late Baroque and classicistic interiors (designed by Domenico Merlini and Jan Chrystian Kamsetzer, with paintings by Marcello Bacciarelli).

Hello Mikolaj,
You seem to have gone a little over the top with colour saturation and/or contrast! Never mind, it is an interesting composition of this immense castle. I like the point of view looking on to the corner of the building across this vast square; it gives us a very good idea of the dimensions of the building. The passers-by add atmosphere.

ale pojechales dzis z kolorami :) Saturacja na maksa, ale jak juz wiadomo ja to lubie!!
Kolorki maja byc i tyle!! Chyba nikt nie bedzie mial problemu z okresleniem elementu pierwszoplanowego :)
Bardzo ciekawa notka i trzeba przyznac ze piekny ten Wasz (i Nasz zarazem) Zamek Krolewski,

Czolem Mikolaj!
Tez lazilem w ostatnia niedziele po Warszawie. Zachwycalem sie swiatlem, bardzo dziwnym swiatlem i jeszcze dziwniejszymi kolorami. Jak sie domyslam, saturacji wcale nie musialem podkrecac. Piekna fotografia. Ladnie siedzi na mazowieckiej ziemi bryla Zamku Krolewskiego.

Your composition is nice here showing the castle from an angle that gives the shot a sense of depth. The people give the scene a sense of scale. The lighting is fine, however the colors are a bit oversaturated. The photo has nice sharpness and detail.

Trochê mniej wspó³czesnych akcentów i by³o by tak prawie jak na obrazach Canaletto... mimo pochmurnego dnia, a mo¿e w³asnie dlatego ¶wiat³o tutaj wprost zaszala³o odbijaj±c siê miekko od chmur. Da³e¶ czadu z kolorami chyba zachodz±cego s³oñca. Cierpliwie odczeka³e¶ by nikt nie wskoczy³ Tobie w obiektyw. ³adna praca, bardzo dobrze siê prezentuje.
